We suggest starting in Pedrogao Pequeno and taking the ancient road/trail down to the bridege. It is 1.5 Km downhill, but is all in copplestone and has great views. This road was first done during the Roman occupation and the bridge was out of wood. In the 1600's the bridge was repaired/replaced with a stone bridge, To walk down this road, is a trip in history and seeing the bridge at the bottom is just the topper. The bridge is under the tallest modern bridge built in Portugal, the contrast is remarkable. We felt like wanting to take a swim in the river, but there was not really a place to access the water. It was a hot afternoon and so the hike back up the stone road was tiring, but lots of places to rest and enjoy the views. We hightly recommend taking this hike. There are also access points from different points.

About 5 min by car from the hotel da Montanha, you can park and have a pic-nic (even make fire) it is equipped... Go through the tunnel and walk for about 15/20 min and you'll get there...

We visited the bridge from the river, during a Kayak trip. It is pretty and nicely located. We loved it from underneath :))

The treeking route is amazingly beautifull.
You can drive your car up to a 1,5 km from this location and trek from there... it's a plain and easy walk.
If you take the whole route (PR2), it's a litle bit harder, but not much..
