We went there on the advice of Thomas’s Catlins Lodge owner where we stayed and have not been disappointed. We walked on the beach and stumbled upon a Sea Lion who was resting on the beach - incredible!

Came across it by accident reall ,saw the sign whilst touring this fabulous country and turned to it . Wow wow when we got there and was lucky enough to see lots of sea lions in a majestic setting on a magical island

The bay is beautiful and there were no other people there. However unfortunately the sea lions weren’t around either today. I could imagine it’d be incredible when they are!

We may have been lucky but the sea lions were there. We counted 5. Drive down there is a bit rough at times because of the unsealed road. Be careful. But it is worth it.

We saw 14 Sea Lions here and on the next beach west over the short track behind the headland. Take care to check for fresh tracks into the sand dunes as they are often found there.
