Decent view, wish there was more to it

It's a nice place to view Corvo from, and the lighthouse is picturesque. You can get up close, but apparently it's limited to access inside. It would be nice if there was some sort of historical explanation or display to learn more about it. As it was, we stopped briefly for some photos before proceeding on to one of the hiking trails.

Nice views

This point allows nice views to the north west part of the island, and to the beautiful hills just to the south.

Not the lighthouse, but the viewpoint os your reason to visit!
Jun 2019
Lighthouses on the Azores are usually closed to visitors (they are maintained by the navy I believe) and therefore not too interesting. Albarnaz is probably no different but the reason to visit (besides the amazing gravel road leading south to Faja Grande) is a viewpoint just south of it.

It’s easy to drive past it, but if you drive south from the lighthouse look for a narrow road to your right. You can park the car by the road and walk a bit or drive down the narrow track. The views of cliffs and seastacks are amazing (we were lucky to have sunny weather).

Not very interesting in my opinion

Landscape around it is not inspiring and less beautiful than all other places on the island. It is just windy and not inspiring.

Nice view.
Unfortunatly is only open to public (inside) on wednesdays.

Nothing special

we've reached the lighthouse on our way to morro alto by car and were happy that is was not our full day hike destination. it is just a lighthouse with the ocean view, during sunny day you can see corvo island. it was nice, but nothing more.

The North end of the Westernmost point
Jun 2017 • Couples
We drove until we couldn't drive any farther north and found ourselves at a very picturesque point of Flores at a large concrete structure that is the lighthouse. The doors were open and the wind seem to push us in as we battled it from the car to the instantly calm atrium. We were inspecting some antique machinery when a strong and tall young sailor came rushing out asking how we got in. He seemed a little alarmed and then to himself said, 'well it's the end of the road it's only natural you would be curious.' Seeing we were harmless tourists he then proceeded to explain that the lighthouse was closed but offered a quick tour since we had come a long way. That turned into a comprehensive and very interesting explanation of the lighthouse, it's workings and the culture of the island itself. The sailor was super intelligent and insightful beyond his years and we greatly enjoyed the lighthouse and his hospitality. I believe it's worth the drive out just for the views but if you are lucky enough to meet a sailor on post I would recommend the tour and an open conversation which is much of what any tourist can ask for.

The most western lighthouse of Europe
Sep 2016 • Friends
The Lighthouse of Ponta do Albernaz is located at the tip of Albernaz, parish of Ponta Delgada, municipality of Santa Cruz das Flores, on the island of Flores, in the Azores. The narrow road to get there is not in very good condition, however the place deserves a visit, let alone for being the most western lighthouse of the archipelago of the Azores and therefore of Europe. However, for those who think this is the most occidental point in Europe, they are mistaken: the Ilhéu de Monchique, on this island of Flores, has this category.

Nice view and peaceful place
Jul 2016 • Friends
We didn't entered the lighthouse, but we explored a bit the surroundings.
It has nice views around the lighthouse and it's, for sure, a good place to enjoy the landscape, see the ocean and the small islets near the coast.
The weather wasn't perfect in our visit, but it was very good the same way.

Experience the geographical location

This is the western most point of Europe - for this alone, it`s worth being here and to look out towards the Atlantic Ocean from this point is a once in a lifetime experience
