The view from the cliffs are incredible whether you are looking out across the see and surfers or across the massive beach. I loved the fact that not only is there the Ocean but there is also a shallow river that my 3 year old boy loved playing in. Walking across the dunes and rolling down them was also great... More

This beach is at is best in summer as it is a big windy to sit on in november. But for walking that time of the year is great! You can start to do the walk of the Rota Vincentina over here. A nice walk of 12 kilometeres on the cliffs to Amado beach and then inland to Carapateira (... More

Expansive, wild, windy, wavy! Huge waves, meeting sand dunes, strong winds! Huge surf, very empty! Our kids are now asking whether we can go to the each without a sand storm- as this is how they felt at the beach.. worth seeing but difficult to stay and enjoy

The beach is huge and great if you don't like the crowded beaches of the South. With plenty of space you never feel overlooked even with 3 or 4 surf schools hanging around. Ideal for surfing, sunbathing and skinny dipping.

Wonderfully empty beach at start of circular Carpitera walk, with nice welcoming beach bar for welcome refreshments.

Really spacious beach on the west coast of Portugal, views here are just breathtaking! There is a short walk to get on to the beach but well worth it, especially if you are in Portugal for the surf. Epic green waves, clean sets and a long ride in to shore when the tide is out. Strong swell though so unless... More

The connection of river and ocean. Hidden beach from those who do not want to walk to 10 min. But... Go there, the experience is with it.

Probably good for surfing, not so good for a rest, at least on the day we went - strong wind made it necessary to look for natural shelters and even wear jackets despite the nice sunny weather.

Unfortunately we were there on a very misty day, but this also somehow added to the experience. It is one of the 'deepest'/largest beaches I've ever been to, halfway from the car park to the water we felt like we were in the desert!! Drive past the main car park and up the hill for amazing views of the beach... More

Lovely beach, beautiful view, great waves. Because it is quite windy (especially the day we went) it was cold, but great beach for surflessons
