The entrance to the park adjoins the amazing historic [including Romanesque features] part of Pelussin.
The park can be seen/visited by car [in about 4-6 hours] and covers a very large area. The flora and fauna and geology are interesting as are the villages and architecture of the "typical houses" located within the Park boundaries.

I visited this parc last summer and it was amazing. There are hundreds of adventurous and wonderful hikes waiting to be explored.

Less than 50 minutes from Lyon (by car) great nature and wonderful view with a huge BUT. The park is perfect for trekking but from Pelussin, the main village in the area, informations are really bad. You don't know where to go and even if you ask locals they ignore which path you should take. Sometimes it can be quite dangerous because the trekking paths cross extremely trafficked roads.

Went to Pilat NP by rented car from Lyon. It was a very nice daytrip, but I think you could spend at least a week there, if you want to go hiking for example.
Our places we visited where perfect for a daytrip from Lyon:
- Malleval
- Peak of the Pilat
- Sainte-Croix-en-Jarez
Wonderful wine-gardens, great place for bycicling,...
Next time we plan more time for it!

Just go for one of the many mountainbike routes (VTT) in the Pilat.
Route 17 is great, but you need to be very experienced(black beld route) especially downhill from the top Pilat mountain is very steep. But also the more simple routes are great and well maintained.

Bonjour, nous sommes dans la région lyonnaise et souhaiterions passer 3 ou 4 jours dans le parc naturel du Pilat. Je suis enceinte de 6 mois mais souhaiterais visiter et pouvoir voir de jolis points de vus avec de petites randonnées. Est ce possible ? Que le conseillez vous ?

Il y a plein de "points de vue" autour de saint etienne et des chemins balisés (le bessat, le cret de l'oeillon, pelussin, etc...) de difficulté acceptable si on reste sur les crets, des restaurants, des gites mais peut etre que l'office du tourisme vous serait d'une plus grande aide que moi
En tout cas je vous souhaite un bon séjour (et plein de bonnes choses pour la famille qui va s'agrandir!)

I would like to come to this park for our summer holiday. Is there cow mature hard cheese in this park? Or only the soft goat cheese available?

Hi Alex, In our natural Park you could find many types of farmers (winegrowers, breeders, ...) and also many types of cheese.

J'ai déjà relevé une ou deux balade à faire dans votre magnifique région, mais j'aimerais avoir votre conseil pour un séjour romantique (anniversaire de mon conjoint) avec par exemple un point de vue panoramique duquel on peut voir les autres massifs :)
