I visited the museum after our tour guide took us there. It was $8 for internationals and $2 for nationals.

The tour was divided into two sections. The first section consisted of artifacts from the island over different periods.

The second section of the tour was about the various bank notes of Nicaragua.

I found the tour guide was very knowledgeable in the subjects of the tour. I really enjoy history and understanding various cultures and history. Unfortunately I just felt the tour was very rushed and lasted only for 20 minutes. I wasn't able to really absorb everything at my own pace. Was the tour worth $8? Not really. It was a big shame, because I was just not able to learn the history of Nicaragua.

There are two museums here. The first one has much pre-columbian pottery and is very interesting. The second one is a coin and money Museum. It actually has lots of history as heat new president makes their own new money. I recommend this to her

I am the type of museum crawler who wants to read everything and go very slowly. My boyfriend...does not. This museum was the best of both worlds- the employee at the front desk took us in to see the Pre-Colombian exhibit. She spoke in very clear, slow Spanish, but I am pretty sure she could have given the tour in English as well. My bf only took High School Spanish (I am more advanced), but with the context of the items right in front of us, I had to translate very little. The exhibit is not the fanciest, but the collection is very well organized and displayed so that you can see the progression over time. There are few labels so that kept me moving at a reasonable pace, but with the tour guide and the set up, I feel like I didn't miss anything. Afterward we got the chance to try the traditional alcoholic drinks of the area, including Chicha! You can buy some there, though they reuse bottles so we weren't sure it would make through customs in Houston. Either way it was well worth the trip!

We stumbled upon this museum and were impressed with the number of artifacts they had to show. Impressive history on the island and neat to see the pre Columbian collection!

In a number of A/C rooms (great on the hot day), an extensive collection of locally dug-up or otherwise unearthed pottery, cookware, ceramics and jewelry from all over Ometepe is lovingly displayed - and explained about by a guide. The building - there is also a numismatic museum next door - is part of a working finca, and set in a lush garden with a small café (at the end of the tour a potent shot of liquor is offered) and a gift shop. Well worth the visit.

The whole family visited the museum. It's a little way off the beaten path or where you can hop off a the bus, but is still an easy walk and even easier drive. It is located about 8KM from Moyogalpa. The property is a family farm which happened to unearth some artifacts from island history. Since that time the family has been committed to curating a collection of artifacts as commissioned by the ministry of culture. There are two different tour options and prices tend to be a little higher than many typical entry fees on the island, ranging from $8 to $20pp. There are good bathrooms and a small restaurant and bar. The history is only surface level. Overall, we're glad we went, but we are living on the island for a few months. For a weekend or short visit, I would not recommend unless you have a specific interest in historical potteries or currency.

The museum was small, but all the ceramics were founds on the ground of this island. Excellent evidence of the nicaraguan indians.

The Pre-Colombian museum tour was $5/person and was at most 30 minutes long. The artifacts are mostly pottery and jewelry. Some stretch back to 3000BC. The guide did a good job explaining some of the history, and it was quiet so we had our own personal tour. Worth a quick visit. We didn't do the other portion of the museum so I can't comment on it.

Two separate parts at the same location with one being a currency museum and the other having artifacts that have in the main been excavated on the property.
Was actually surprised at how interesting the money museum was with the various leaders of Nicaragua and the types of currency used under their control on display.
The other section has a number of pottery and other artifacts on display grouped in the various periods. Not sure what price was as we were on a private tour but certainly enjoyed these two museums
