Museum El Ceibo on Ometepe Island is a must see in Nicaragua with one of the biggest and best conserved collection in the country.The museum has two exhibition halls, one with pre-Columbian statues and artifacts and one which shows the history of the Nicaraguan coin. We stumbled upon this museum and were impressed with the number of artifacts they had to show. Impressive history on the island and neat to see the pre Columbian collection!

The guided tour was informative. The museum also include a coin and banknote museum which we didn't see. But the main attraction are all the pottery displayed in the museum, some dating from 3000 years ago. Around 30-45 minutes

Great historical museum, artifacts going back 6 thousand years. Amazing! Make sure to visit the bar that serves homemade liquor. We had a great time. Make sure to go through the money museum.

Private guided tour of the museum with a shot of traditional local version of tequila included! Also a nigh hotel with pool. Definitely worth the money to see some of the history of the island.
