Had a great time Saturday at the Mistley Kitchen cooking class taught by Giovani from Naples Italy.
We learned how to create an authentic Neapolitan pizza margherita in a wood fired oven, grissini, pizza sauce, melanzane al funghetto (aubergine and tomato stew), pepino gratinati (gratin of pepper), and white bean salad with prawns. Oh, and there was plenty of wine and yummy chocolate pizza with strawberries! We ate all of it!
It was helpful to learn the importance of exact measurements, the correct sequence to add ingredients, timing and all the history of making these Italian dishes that were taught to Giovani by his grandmother.
We all made a lot of new friends as well.
This is my 4th cooking class at Mistley and I highly recommend it. ❤️

We've just attended the "Easy Thai Cooking" class at the Mistley Kitchen, which was brilliant. The class was taken by Sherri Singleton, the owner of the school and also the Mistley Thorn restaurant next door. Her passion for food and cooking really shine through, and she makes it seem easy. We were a group of 10, and cooked 7 dishes during a day which lasted from 10am until 3.30pm. They were all delicious, and there was more food than we could eat (and plenty of wine). All of the recipes were ones we will try at home. The classes are in a really light and airy purpose-built kitchen, with a garden at the back where we sat and ate. The group size was just right, and Sherri and her colleagues were on hand to help everyone. Very good value and a great day out.

I’ve been to quite a few schools in Essex and Mistley kitchen is the best. It’s spacious and well organised which makes it very different from other cookery schools! The day was brilliant with lots of dishes and plenty of hands on experience and we were given lots of helpful tips. This is the place to go if you want a truly professional course.

Wow! Thank you for the brilliant compliment - our team work very hard to offer a very organised, but relaxed day with a lot of great content and delicious food, not to mention drink. We are so pleased that you enjoyed yourself and hope to see you again soon!

My 11 year old son says...
This was a lot of fun, the teachers were really good, everyone got to take part and the food was really tasty. I would definitely go and do another course here!

We visited with the intention of browsing and came out with handfuls of lovely stuff. Wine, coffee beans, tasteful kitchen storage items, etc. Prices are on the bespoke side but the experience is worth it. Mistley Kitchen is next door to The Thorn restaurant and hotel/Inn another gem on Mistley High Street.

My husband and I had a fantastic day at the Mistley Kitchen on a cookery workshop. We were on the Sicilian course, and Ursula Ferigno was a great tutor. We came away truly inspired. We also came away full as we ate a five course meal that we had helped prepare- all in the garden in the spring sunshine. We will definitely do this again!

This is the fourth cookery class I have attended at the Mistley Kitchen this year and they have all been great! In today's class Sherry introduced us to cooking some delicious vegan dishes. We ate the food we made accompanied by a lovely glass of vegan Italian wine and finished off with some delectable chocolate ice cream. I didn't realise vegan food could taste this good!

I was given a Thai Cookery Course at the Mistley Kitchen for my retirement present. It was a very apt present due to my love of cooking. Sherri who owns the business and has been doing these courses for 17 years, was very informative and helpful. Sherri was ably helped by Jo who worked away in the back ground getting ingredients together and doing all the washing up.
The day was explained in great detail and Sherri went through all the recipes. I was joined by 10 other people who all went away learning something from the day. We all did the vegetable prep and then cooked the starters and made Fresh Mango Summer Rolls. These we demolished not realising there was more to come. We were split up in pairs and all did a different dish. We then sat down to eat our dishes with wine and other drinks. The day was put together very professionally and you have an opportunity to browse and buy in the kitchen shop and get a 10% discount on most of the products on sale. The Mistley Kitchen does loads of other courses and is very popular, so early booking is recommended.I had a brilliant day and would recommend checking out the website for the range of courses to find one that would suit you. It is not cheap, but well worth the money, you will not be disappointed.

Just on our way back from Sherri’s sauce workshop at the Mistley Kitchen. Fabulous day spent in the company of really nice people. The class goes for a convivial and relaxed feel whilst still managing to get through a colossal amount of dishes and impart cooking wisdom and tips along the way. I for one had a lovely time chopping, whisking, chatting, laughing, eating and drinking. The one thing I would do differently if I were to go again....is not to eat such a lovely (but filling) breakfast at the neighbouring Mistley Thorn beforehand. Rookie error. Go hungry. You will come away very well fed and watered and in our case carrying home made mayonnaise! I would heartily recommend for anyone who enjoys all things food.

Hi
Do you run a pasta making class ?
Written June 17, 2017
Hi John B,
We regularly run pasta making classes and we still have limited space for our next class with Ursula Ferrigno this Wednesday, if you are interested. Other than that, check out our website for upcoming dates. Our classes include snacks, a fab lunch with wine and goodies to take home, along with a recipe pack and all ingredients. We hope to see you soon!
