Being a local, this is our nearest park. We have been coming here for years and have noticed the various changes and uses of the park.Yes it is a large outdoor area for those wishing to exercise etc, however over the last couple of years the park is beginning to show the signs of over use.
The footways are too narrow to cope with the large number of cyclists ,dogwalkers and the buggy brigade. Weekends are particularly busytimes. The overuse produces dirty, mud filled footways that are not pleasant to walk along.
Parking is not easy, particularly during weekends April to September when you have to pay £2.50 for the privilidge of parking on site. The car parks are not tarmac but compressed stone / dirt. There are many mud puddles during poor weather.
Toilet facilities provided north of the lake near the playpark could be improved with renovation. Overall this could be a great park but needs a lot of work and inevitably money spent.

I have come here a couple of times recently... I've sat in the dog free zone garden which was lovely.. I've wondered along the paths.. Yesterday in the drizzle I walked across from the car park to the lake with my dog.. Having to avoid over 50 Drug canisters... Broken bottles and bottle tops strewn over the large grassland.. What a shame.. So beautiful ruined by a handful of cretins!

The cafe was very well equipped for social distancing and the loos by the water park were open (if not everywhere else)

What a shame that druggies can't put their rubbish in the bins provided!! IDIOTS

Lovely park with so many different areas, play but for the kids, formal gardens, big lake, plenty of open space. Car parking is free during the week and £3 at weekends. You can also park on the street for free. I saw two cafes one was more formal and did proper meals the other did coffee and sandwich type things.

Love this park, there’s a smashing lake with lots of activities that can be booked, a beautiful house with tea room, family area, swing park, pub (The Stables), pretty flower beds, tennis courts, a bowling green and loads of room to relax.

We are blessed to live only a short walk away and use it regularly.

Smashing open space for all to enjoy

I have lived near this beautiful park nearly all of my life but only fairly recently have I really appreciated how beautiful it is. The gardens are beautiful and it's the walk around the lake is a lovely one full of ducks swans & the odd dog! The park is huge & full of wide open space so you can take a picnic and not feel like you're near anyone.
Also, take a look at Danson House, it's stunning & I was lucky enough to have my wedding reception there. It's a very beautiful park.

Brilliant open space, decent play area for the kids but can get really busy. Lots to do for entertainment.
The walk around the park is lovely, lots of dog walkers and parents with kids.
A few to many older people and adults on bikes. Feel like you are constantly trying to move out of the way.
Recommend for the family to enjoy, we tend to spend 4/5 hours there.

Nicely kept, relatively big park with a boating lake. Links to other green space so quite a lot to explore. It has a limited number of paths so it felt quite crowded but otherwise nice.

Lovely park. Nice walk around the lake and good for buggies and bikes. Good play park with lots of choice for all ages. Went to the splash park the day it opened and it was good to see it open after all this time.

We wanted a Carvery but didn't fancy the Sunday scrum at a Toby - a quick Google search bought up The Boathouse at Danson Park. While ever so slightly more expensive than a Toby, it is well worth every penny - you get a choice between a 2 course or 3 course Carvery and the food is delicious, with a plentiful choice and helping of meat and vegetables. Service was fantastic too, just the right amount of attentiveness despite the busy Sunday afternoon!
The Boathouse itself is lovely, with huge windows giving you a fabulous view across the lake - beautiful!
What a great little find - we will definitely return!

I was brought up in the area and loved Danson Park, but a trip there with my 2 year old grandson has given me grave reservations that it is now a safe place to take children. There is a water feature where children run in and out. Looks lovely. But is so muddy and slippery that after a bruised face and a cut leg we left. Saw lots of children slipping over.

A walk across the field towards the lake seemed a good idea . However this was covered- and I mean covered- in dog poo. I have never seen a park like it. Do they ever clear it up? Are they supposed to? Do they not fine dog owners?

With Danson House Café not open until noon , it was not a successful trip. Back to the garden!

The children's play park looked good, but there were some rides with blue/white keep off plastic around them and no one seemed to be overseeing anything . As it was a busy summer day with lots of children there, this was worrying.

Comments from Bexley Council welcome
