At first you don't realise what you are looking at,as you just think it's another snow capped mountain,it's only when you stare at its summit and you realise it's actually a "tentacle"reaching slowly out from the largest glacier mass in Europe, the Jostedalsbreen Glacier - spectacular

Drive right to the end of the road, there is a parking lot there. About a 2 minute walk from the car, you come to a glacial outflow lake. The glacier hangs right above you. Spectacular. There also a cafe at the parking lot. Definitely...More

Good place to pull up and gaze up at in awe if you’re passing. Really short walk from the car. It was absolutely chucking it down when we went but we could still admire it. The surrounding mountains are breathtaking. Typically the cafe was closed,...More

Very impressive and, unsurprisingly, much much colder up there than I imagined, but the glacier is an incredible sight. Set against the mountains and now smaller than in previous years due to lack of rain/snow we were shown how large it used to be. Nevertheless,...More

You cannot get all the way to the glacier, just to a small lake in front of it. Drive all the way to the cafe before parking.

Visited the base of this glacier . Lovely view from the bass. Visited the canteen there for lunch. Soup and 2 slices of bread cost SK85! There was about 100 ml of clear vegetable soup. You get better quality from a packet soup! Avoid that...More
