Exquisite historic river with springs along the busy Via Flamina is this oasis of tranquility and calm. Virgil wrote of its natural beauty where the Emporer Caligula came to worship the River God Clitunno and consult the ancient oracles. One of my favorite places to visit for its serene natural beauty coupled with its ancient origins.

Been here many times since I was a small child. As many reviewers have said already, this is a beautiful and peaceful oasis. Unfortunately most of the area has been closed and only a small circuit remains. If you want a relaxing place you will...More

If you like to just sit on a bench and watch the swans and ducks float by in a crystal clear pond with beautiful trees around then you should go here just to relax a little from your day out exploring!

Avoid! Although the historical heritage is fascinating, save yourself time and $ and DO NOT GO. It's tiny, not memorable and kindness especially toward the elder is definitely not what you should expect.

This is a magical place. Celebrated by poets and writers in antiquity, in modern times - among others - by Lord Byron and Giosue Carducci, it was probably more impressive in Roman times: it seems that after an earthquake around 440 AD, the souces have...More

We visited at the end of March on a lovely sunny day. The water is incredibly clear and it is quite incredible to see the plants growing and the many colors of the plants and the different stones and rocks. Our photographs look amazing. However...More

Peaceful springs in the heart of Umbria- great stop on the way to Spoleto or if you are cruising the Sunday market in Campello.

We have been to Clitunno previously but as we stayed in the area at Settecamini, we decided to visit this wonderful spot again. The gardens are very calming and graceful. Some previous reviewers perhaps expected flamingos or eagles or some other exotic birdlife. The exquisite...More

The springs bubble up into a little lake surrounded by weeping willows and poplars; ducks and white swans glide by on the crystal clear (and deliciously cold) waters. All very idyllic and almost English in appearance. However, this fairly small area was surrounded by a...More
