Owing to lack of rain, the lagoons are half empty this year. Be warned

I love the lagunas de Ruidera, but this last winter was very dry and neither of the two cascades are running. It is still a lovely spot, but not as stunning as it is when there... read more

great lakes but too many people and bars along it and not enough nature. Accommodation was lacking too in terms of being in nature and views of nature

I love the lagunas de Ruidera, but this last winter was very dry and neither of the two cascades are running. It is still a lovely spot, but not as stunning as it is when there is plenty of water. We visited it recently and I include 4 pictures, two taken last year in May and a further two of... More

We live on the Costa Blanca so thought going here in April would be ideal after the winter rain etc. What we found was that being 900m high and inland, the seasons are two months behind the Coastal Costa Blanca, hence they still had log fires burning and very little in the way of new spring plant growth. The locals... More

Hot sun and chilly water - a perfect combination. The water is turquise-blueish. Lovely sights include waterfalls and rocks along the water. Have been there 2 times in 2010 and 2015 - both in May-June period - not so crowded then. Definitely worth stopping by if ever travelled from/to Madrid!

Wonderful for scenery, the natural lakes with their connecting waterfalls are a delight. Walking, driving, water sports (in season), this area should be so much better known.

Loved it. Wow factor. Ideal for nature walks or just watching nature. Well kept secret. At list from tourists as the area seem to be a Spanish get away place.

In the middle of dusty La Mancha is this stunning set of lagoons. Indeed, small lakes some of them 60 feet deep and running into each other through small cataracts. The surrounding vegetation is lush and the water life plenty. Can walk around the Laguna San Pedro and see a tremendous diversity of plants and flowers. This time of the... More

Just visited this beautiful area, it is stunning. Fabulous blue lakes, stunning waterfalls and some great places to eat. We went there to evaluate it for a trip with the Jaguar Club of which I am President. Be warned this is very popular with the Spanish in summer and July and August can be very busy. Take a visit to... More

There is not much I can add to previous reviews in English, but if you are interested in rambling, there are loads of walks varying from easy to difficult and between a few hundred yards and 12 miles in length. If you would like to spend a day walking in this beautiful region, have a look here http://www.wikiloc.com/trails/walking/spain/castille-la-mancha/ruidera . There... More

No walking routes but still so beautiful views. Driving by car for those 10 km and stopping on nicest spots.
