Sadly there are not too many attractions in St. Michel de Maurienne, a town struggling with the motorway now passing them by. We were having a rest day in St Michel while on cycle holiday so visited the Alu Museum and were impressed. Good informative displays, well set out, nice variety. Worth a visit (about 1 hour is needed).

Went with 2 small children on a rainy day, it was really well laid out, excellently designed, interesting, interactive with lots to watch, pull, press and dress up. I would highly recommend as a place to visit. Under 6 go free and 2 adults was only 11 euros. A nice small shop at the end. Overall a great visitor experience!

This museum was part of a day excursion that friends from our village organized. This museum is for real science buffs and wannabes. Explained are all aspects of the process to turn bauxite into aluminium. The guides are extremely knowledgeable, ours having worked in the industry and the area most of his life. The museum is very interactive - fun... More

Great exhibits on the extraction and production of aluminium (great for curious science students) combined with a history of the local region.
