From Rituraj Home Stay, walked for 5 minutes up to the steps that lead first to Buddhist caves and further on to Naina Devi temple. The two caves can be done within 10-12 minutes. Monks I came across understood neither English nor Hindi. Follow the steps and trek uphill. over 90% of the steps are made from white marble in the happy/sad memories of the locals.
The 650+ steps are not very steep and people with general fitness level can easily do these in batches. A traveler aiming to enjoy views loves to halt and absorb the views, the feel, sit and relax..wander in some thinking. Why stress to reach up? I have varicose veins and did all 650 steps in less than 30 minutes. The last batch of steps is yet under construction so I decided to go via road. now this was a everything-in-abdomen pull hike BUT it was WORTH IT!! Amazing adventurous feeling, silent, clean road.
Barely one car in 30 minutes kind of situation though it was election week. One bus from Rewalsar comes up every few hours (4-5 bus trips in one day). Please check timings with bus stand in Rewalsar or Naina Devi because missing the bus is not a choice for people not staying in Sarkidhar.
Inside the temple complex, there is huge parking area and a big government guest house (can be booked online). Some snacks shops on left (must try bun chole from the lady seller). More shops further, well-done water and shoes area - wash hands and proceed towards the temple. Huge open courtyard with langar hall on right side and temple sanctum in front. Separate temples are there for Shiv parivaar, Hanumaji and other gods and godesses. Darshan was easy, peaceful. Hospitality and humble attitude of serving locals forced me to have langar. The prasad was just Wow!!
Enjoy loads and loads of 360 degree views from the area. There are rooms on rent here as well. Enjoy pizza and more food at the entrance of the temple.

Take a local bus (try not to take it on weekends-very crowded) to naina devi (famous among locals) which takes around 1 hr to reach the temple (11kms away) and after darshan, if you are lucky, u might get proper mandi style mandyali dham in bhandara. Not to be missed. Locals take the stair case to the temple if they miss the bus (strenous climb of 2-3 hrs one way). Ask for taxi (Rs.500-1000)/ or share taxi if you dont like the bus journey. Move down on foot if you like and pass through the lovely local village in between.

Nainadevi Temple is an old temple with a modern structure but inside it one can see some archeological ruins. The meandering road to the temple is scenic and laden with fruit bearing trees on both sides. The view from the hilltop is also alluring.
