Wow what a cool place to explore. The museum is full of interesting history about Fort Pickens before you actually go out and explore the Fort. The Fort is full of history and tunnels and such.

I can't say enough about Ft. Pickens! We've been about 4 times over the last 6 years. It's a self guided tour and you can watch an informative video as well if you like. There's a small museum on site and gift shop. There are some steps involved but if you have someone who can't handle them there's still plenty... More

My family and I explored the fort while staying one night at the campground. We had a great time exploring the various spaces in and around the fort. It was nice to be able to explore on our own without a guide and go any direction we wanted. Be sure to pickup a printed guide that will explain what the... More

It is so hard to believe this place was built in the mid-1800's. It is a truly awesome thing to look through. It is clean, well maintained park. They do provide scheduled guided tours or you can do a self guided one with the pamphlets provided. There is a museum there but we were pressed for time that day so... More

We went and did a self guided tour with our two kids. They really enjoyed looking around as did we. We were lucky and even got to watch the blue Angels practice while we were there! Even being outside had plenty of shaded areas so didn't get to hot. My whole family enjoyed and learned.

We always come to the Fort when we visit Pensacola Beach. It's fun to go through the tunnels and imagine what it was like during the war. They are refurbishing some of the cannons in the tunnel system, so we look forward to seeing the completion of that project. There were lots of Osprey nesting high in the trees, so... More

If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing couple of hours, this may be the perfect spot for you. The museum is small, but self directing and I learned a lot about it's history from the video. The beaches were so beautiful in this area. it was nice to see such a gorgeous stretch of white sand and ocean... More

While on our beach trip, we made a day trip to the historic Fort Pickens. My wife and I always try to plan at least one day while traveling to do something educational with our children. Fort Pickens provided a great mid-week distraction. For $15/vehicle, you have unlimited access to the historic fort and miles (& miles) of PERFECT beaches.... More

Came across this amazing place whilst in Pensacola - Well worth a visit - walked along the beach at 5:00 p.m. virtually deserted. Drove a little further and investigated the Fort. Finished off back on the beach for the sunset. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Pensacola

Highly recommend spending half the day and taking the tour from the Ranger. Make sure to see the museum on site which might be a little difficult to find in the long green roofed building. One of my favorite spots for several different activities.
