Interesting history. Mainly saw combat during the Civil War but was in use up to 1947. Loved walking through all the casemates, magazines, mine rooms, etc. Good self-guided tour though they do offer ranger led tours. Take time to do the museum. Interesting info about the ecosystem and a great short film about the fort.

This was a really nice break from the sun. Our kids 11 and 14 enjoyed the self guided tour. Took us about an hour. It was quick but informative.

$18 per car. We were too late to see the visitor center, but did a self-guided tour of the fort with the provided pamphlets. There are very nice beaches, quieter than the public beach. Also saw people fishing but can't personally attest to whether it's a good place for that.

We enjoy visiting Civil War forts, battle fields, etc and this was an interesting stop. Our park guide, Cramer from Indiana, was the best guide we've had on our various Civil War travels. He was very knowledgeable and brought this very interesting story of the fort come to life. We were able to envision the explosion of the powder when... More

If you have previously been to Fort Morgan, this is a must see. It is well preserved, besides damage done back when it was in use. This was an unforgettable experience for me.

Wear walking shoes to this fort. There's a lot to see, but it is spread out. There are some great photo opportunities. There are roads around the fort and plenty of parking spaces. If you are interested in fishing, the fort offers back bay and ocean fishing. There's a small museum on site. There's also a gift shop.

We visited on March 21st, 2017 with our grandaughter. It was wonderful. We saw a 15 minute at the Museum that walked us through the history of Fort Pickens. Then we visited the Fort. It was great. You can relate the video to the Fort and understand what was happening in the 1800's when this Fort was built.

We love learning history about our country and Fort Pickens did not disappoint. We were in Pensacola beach for spring break and visited here for something to do. Not only is the fort very interesting and eerie to walk through but the beaches that surround it are absolutely beautiful. We parked and went to the beach as well. It cost... More
