More than just a cat village

I was expecting a lot more cats in a place called "cat village". I guess I forgot that most cats are jerks and don't really like people and this population is no exception. Someone said there are over 200 cats in this village but you'll be lucky if you see over 30. I love cats by the way, but I... More

I came here on a rainy day and wasn't hoping to see a load of cats. My guide said the cats will probably be hiding, we might not see many. I was quite happy with the number of cats I saw, it was amazing. I think cat lovers will certainly love it here. The cats were either napping or chilling... More

If there was a heaven on earth for cats, this is it. I saw a woman spoon feeding a cat on the street with cat food from a tin. Everywhere is a cat it seems. Perched serenely oblivious to the constant flow of cameras and hands reaching out to give a scratch behind the ears. There is a sweet venue... More

I don't know if the weather affects how many cats are about, but on Jan 29, we saw at least 20 cats! It was a great little side trip out of Taipei. Fun cat-themed shopping, happy tourists, happy cats. Wish we'd arrived earlier in the day to eat at one of the local options but by 2:30 when we got... More

If you love cats, definitely visit at least once. I'd stay away from visiting on bad weather days, however, as all the cats (and dogs) tend to take shelter. If you go in any stores, make sure to obey signage and ask if you take pics or pet the cats located in the stores. Outside, I believe the animals are... More

It was quite a disappointment when we drove there. Its interesting concept but there aint enough cats to call it a cat village. There are more cats in a small estate in Singapore than this cat village. I wouldnt do another trip to this, not worth the visit at all.

Quite a few cats! You just have to look for them. Cats appear to be well fed and taken care of. Most of them are friendly. There's a lot of cat merchandise and cat-themed food. Some restaurants are a little overpriced, but I highly recommend Hide & Seek Cafe. Fairly easy to get to from Taipei if you're willing to... More

After 1 hour plus from the Taipei city center expecting to see hundreds of cats roaming around the street, we could only count 10. Most of them domesticated and owned by the cafe owners. Maybe because its winter? But we spent 3 hours there and still the same few cats walking about. I don't recommend the place if you expect... More
