Dave was the best driver ever! We got an e-ticket ride from Zion Ponderosa Ranch (out the east Zion NP entrance) to the Observation Point Trailhead.
We used to do the Observation Point trail from Weeping Rock Trailhead in the park (which was closed by a landslide in 8/2019), so we were thrilled to learn we could access the viewpoint from another place. For $5. (plus a well deserved tip), Dave took us from the ranch to the trailhead and picked us up again after the hike.
The hike is much easier than the one from Weeping Rock, but looking down on Angel’s Landing and down the valley is truly amazing!
And there is so much to do at the Ranch-it’s a hidden gem!
I can’t recommend it highly enough, a great value for a very muddy ride only a 4-wheel drive could do. Bonus was the fun open jeep ride the very skilled Dave took us on. Thanks for a great time, Dave!!!!

Instead of doing a Jeep tour we opted for a Sunset Hike with East Zion Adventures. I guess very few people want to do the walking themselves because we ended up having a totally private Experience! Our guide drove us through a very bumpy road that a regular car couldn’t go through to a remote hike totally off the beaten path, we had a quick and easy 20 minute hike to the top of the mountain where the view was just amazing! We didn’t run into another soul the entire time, it felt like the entire view was just for us! As the sun set we sat there and chatted and sometimes just let the conversation go entirely quiet so we could just listen to the wind whipping through the canyon below us. It was so peaceful and the right way to enjoy nature...away from people. I’d highly recommend doing the guided sunset hike if you want To get away from the crowds and get some great photos while you’re at it.

Tip: it gets chilly as the sun goes down, bring a sweater! (We went in September)

My daughter and I just returned from an exciting and thoroughly enjoyable Powell’s Way canyoneering adventure. Our guide, Dan, was knowledgeable and taught us much about the natural area and the skills required to make the day even more fun. He expertly guided the UTV on the dramatic and delightful off road drive to the canyon. We learned how to scoot down a sloping slot canyon and how to cross a stream without getting our footwear yet (hint: take off your shoes and socks!). We built on the skills we both already had for rappelling, and Dan’s excellent instruction certainly would permit a novice a safe and pleasant outing. We had no idea what to expect before hopping into the UTV - we’d read the glowing Trip Advisor reviews, but still, we’ve never done anything quite like this, and it was a pinnacle experience!! We’d love to do it all again! Thanks, Dan and East Zion Adventures!

We did a full day canyoneering trip with my husband and 17 yo daughter. Joe our guide was knowledgeable, supportive and kept things fun. The trails had changed considerably after a recent storm and Joe never broke a sweat. It developed into a fantastic team building experience as our group worked together to cross pools of water and new terrain. It was a blast and Joe was smiling from ear to ear the whole way. This group provided a great, challenging experience we will never forget!!

Great horses, wonderful staff! I would have given this company 5 stars BUT we got lost trying to find them. There weren’t enough signs to find them easily. After running 15 minutes late, we asked the Zion Ponderosa front desk for directions and they sent us back to the road in - rather than telling us to just go behind their building. We ended up being 30 minutes late so we still got to ride, but it was cut in half for our tardiness. I don’t blame them, but think better signage would be helpful.

My husband and I did the half day canyoneering tour and our guide was Aaron. He did a fantastic job helping us ( it was a small group of 4) and encouraging us to take our time through the canyon but yet take a few chances. It was a blast! The largest rappel was 70 ft, the smallest about 4 ft (there were approx 7 rappels). Just an FYI before you go, take more drink than you think you will need along with a snack or two. There is approximately a 30 min drive each way to the site and a 1 mile hike to the canyon. The walk from the end of the hike to the van is uphill and sandy. Aaron was extremely patient and said we could go as slow as needed. An amazing experience and I would definitely return!

Note: 4 stars because no one in the recreation barn (where you check in) was wearing a mask and the unisex restroom was out of soap. I do believe they could take a few more COVID precautions with the number of people that were in the barn when we checked in for our tour.

Greg our driver was great. Very cautious but still gave us a very good off course ride. He also shared some very good information with us both while driving and at various stops. Was well worth the money. Would do it again.

Canyoneering trip (no Jeep), 1/2 day with Aaron.

This was such a great activity. My 12 yr old had a blast, as did us parents.

I always felt safe, and instructions were clear. Aaron was knowledgeable and encouraging with all. Especially those that were a little nervous.

We had never done anything like this, so 1/2 day was enough.

Began at 2pm, 20 min drive to trailhead, then a 20 min hike to canyon. At end of rapelling canyon you have another hike back up. It is a little tougher as you're tired and hiking on sandy trail.

Highly recommend. Get out of your comfort zone, try something new :) I'm glad I did.

We did the 1/2 day canyoneering tour as a family. It was just the 4 of us (husband & two kids: 11 & 13). Such a memorable excursion! Our guide Aaron was super nice and very chill. The views stunning, and the rappelling was exciting. My kids had to work through some pretty substantial fear on the largest rappel, and they were so pleased they did afterward. Highly recommend!
