The rocks and scenery are stunning here and we enjoyed the drive. Had a walk but not as much wildlife as the south unit. Lots of buffalo but most at a distance, Well worth a visit.

I find it interesting to read the reviews that tout either the north or south unit of the park as best. They each have their good points. I would recommend going to the south unit visitors center first as it is more complete. There is...More

This was a nice drive along a 14 mile stretch of the NP that offered many turn outs and photographic opportunities. The land was rugged and majestic. We saw Big Horn Sheep and plenty of Bison. This is well worth the visit.

This is a gorgeous drive. Saw buffalo, some wild horses, and a few deer. Was hoping for a little more variety of animals. Miles 7-11 are closed right now, so maybe some of the animals avoid people by hiding there. Anyway this drive was well...More

We took our motorcycle through the north unit of the park. The park and the area leading into it were very scenic. There are places to pull over and look. Very worthwhile.

In my opinion, the north unit of TR National Park is the best site to see. I got there around 830am and very glad I did. There’s not much of a visitor center, which is currently located just inside the main gate, in a modular...More

The North Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park is about an hour’s drive from Medora. Unusually hot July temperatures caused us to discard some of our trail plans, but we still had a great few hours in the park. We had planned to hike the...More
