If I could sum up our visit on one word it would be: Awestruck! We began our hike at Jewel Hollow Overlook and went straightaway to Mary's Rock. It was not easy, but ever so worth it. The weather was in the high 80's, but hiking in the woods was very comfortable. The somewhat mid stop at Robin's Nest was... More

Wife and I took this on, on one of the hotter days but did not regret it. It was a demanding hike but thoroughly enjoyable especially when you see a Mountain Lion! Will return in the fall as the view is breathtaking.

When the weather is fine you can go from the far end of the Big Meadows parking lot uo a short way to a lovely view before dinner at Big Meadows.

You can get 180 degree views or more. A favorite hike that we went on through the advice of a young female ranger at the visitors center at Big Meadow. The weather cooperated and the hike wasn't too bad, but I'm learning that depends on who you are and where you're at in life. I would do this one again.

We take this hike at least once a year and have been doing so for over 40 years! It is a hike that is manageable for the whole family and offers a beautiful view for your effort. It can be a nice place for a picnic if it isn't too chilly or a weekend day, when the steady stream of... More

From thornton,s gap parking, it is 2 miles and about 1200 feet up in elevation to Mary,s Rock. It is not an easy hike, very steep. But the view is gorgeous with rocks to sit on and enjoy the view and the breeze while you recuperate from the climb

This is a really cool, quick hike. We got to the summit in less than 40 minutes and got back down even faster. A lot of reviews said 2-3 hours...I'm not sure how. We even spent some time at the top. It was a little challenging to start with a steep climb right away, but the view at the top... More

We hiked this trail in early May on a clear day and it was a pleasant hike. The views at the top were great. It was also fun crossing paths with the AT thru hikers. It wasn't crowded and had lots of tree coverage.

The trail is rocky and a bit steep, but overall a fairly easy hike. As everyone says, the views from the summit are gorgeous, but so are the views along the way.

1200 ft, 3.7 miles hike to Mary's Rock, Worth It, bring water, lunch, take nap on rocks. Park at NPS station, there is signage for Mary's Rock, trail at end of parking lot. Took us 2 hrs to get to rocks, 45 mins to come down. Bears seen from a distance. Dog friendly trail. Would definitely do this hike again.... More
