From thornton,s gap parking, it is 2 miles and about 1200 feet up in elevation to Mary,s Rock. It is not an easy hike, very steep. But the view is gorgeous with rocks to sit on and enjoy the view and the breeze while you recuperate from the climb

This is a really cool, quick hike. We got to the summit in less than 40 minutes and got back down even faster. A lot of reviews said 2-3 hours...I'm not sure how. We even spent some time at the top. It was a little challenging to start with a steep climb right away, but the view at the top... More

We hiked this trail in early May on a clear day and it was a pleasant hike. The views at the top were great. It was also fun crossing paths with the AT thru hikers. It wasn't crowded and had lots of tree coverage.

The trail is rocky and a bit steep, but overall a fairly easy hike. As everyone says, the views from the summit are gorgeous, but so are the views along the way.

1200 ft, 3.7 miles hike to Mary's Rock, Worth It, bring water, lunch, take nap on rocks. Park at NPS station, there is signage for Mary's Rock, trail at end of parking lot. Took us 2 hrs to get to rocks, 45 mins to come down. Bears seen from a distance. Dog friendly trail. Would definitely do this hike again.... More

This is a wonderful hike. I would recommend to anybody who likes hiking. There is elevation change, so you need to be in shape. It usually takes me 2-3 hours round trip depending on how many people are at the summit, the more people the sooner I leave. It is popular so hike early.

There are several ways to get to the trail. We chose the shortest route (had just done Old Rag the day before, so....), and after reaching the summit, we were pleased with our choice. It was just long enough to be a real hike and short enough to be an add-on to another day hike if you take the short... More

Mary's Rock is an amazing rock formation. The climb up is pretty steep but worth the trip. If you do not mind climbing, you can scramble up the rocks to the very top.

I have been to and through the park twice. The first time I stayed in the park at the lodge, and did a fair amount of hiking. The second time it was a quick cruise through the park with my Girlfriend, and we stayed in one of the cabins. I think the park is great, I think the activities are... More

Trail long enough to get a nice workout and beautiful view at the summit. Rocky surface, good hiking boots help to ease foot pain. You will be climbing up to Mary’s Rock and down on the way back, the trail is safe and wide enough to make the hike pleasant. Lots of big rocks and tree trunks to rest. Worth... More
