Wildlife and gorgeous views!

We saw 2 bobcats, 3 bear, and a variety of other wildlife just from our car. The drive is long and winding offering stunning views from both sides of the mountain.

The Big Meadow Lodge is one of the best places to stay when in the park. The cabins are cozy and clean. Relaxing in the lounge and soaking up the view is simply amazing.

Had a great weekend with the family. My son and his friend were amazed at all the overlooks along the drive. $20 gets you a seven day pass. If you come in from the north entrance I recommend you fill your tank before entering the drive as the next place to gas on the drive is like 50 miles away.... More

Views are really nice and there are a lot of trails you can take. Check the schedule at the visitors centers for the ranger lead activities. We took a few ranger lead hikes and they were very informative. Park Service does a wonderful job and because this is an anniversary year there are extra activities. At the Byrd Visitors Center... We broke up the drive in 3 days and ended up doing a lot of backtracking to get to trail heads. Loved the Dickey Ridge visitor center. Saw a black bear cross the road at mile 65. We bought a cd at the far north end of the park to listen to as a driving tour. I wished we would... More

Reviews on Skyline Drive in travel guides are to my opinion a bit to enthousiastic about this route. It is beautifull green and the views are great. But after a two hour drive you have seen it all.

This drive ranks right up there with the "Going to the Sun road" in Montana, the "Colonial Highway" in Williamsburg and the "Beartooth Highway" in Wyoming. Just spectacular scenery the entire way!

If you like a peaceful, slow drive look no further. A little over 100 miles, it takes some time but you can exit in a number of places. The views are breath taking and if you have the time the sunsets can be truely incredible. The highlight of out time this month was the black bears. We saw 4 during... More

Easy and beautiful. By smocky weather it is mysterious. On beautiful days the views are splendid. Big variety of trees. Wildlife encounters : deers, black bears.

You don't have to do all 109 miles with a single entrance ticket. You can come and go, plan evenings in different locations, or even run into D.C. for a few days then return. Your entrance ticket is good the day of entry + 6 days.
