The ride itself was ok, the horses were easy to handle. This is not a "guided" tour. Heather spoke in as few words as possible. Only pointed out General Grant and Sequoia Lake. Besides that she had no info to offer. We asked a few questions but got 2 word answers. There's a sign that says "tip your guide if... More

This trip to the sequoia and kings canyon was a dream come true visit! The area is just breathtaking and viewing these majestic trees are absolutely stunning and unreal! Everyone should have the ability to view and spend time here taking in the beauty of these trees and nature all around! The park is clean with plenty of space and... More

As a horse owner, I appreciate the care the owners give the horses. The trails are not meant for trotting or cantering. Too many rocks. Also, not everyone knows how to control a horse beyond a walk. If the horses are allowed a faster pace for an "experienced" rider, they can't distinguish the rider with no experience. Know you will... More

I had not ridden a horse in years so I was looking forward to this part of our trip. When we got there we noticed that the stables were a bit rundown and the horses a bit depressed, but unfortunately this did not raise any red flags and we continued with our prescheduled trip. Then we got to the ride.... More

We went on a two hours ride down into the Sequoia grove. The horses only walked at a slow pace. There was not much interaction with the guide as she walked up front. we were kind of done after an hour. Guide was not very talkative, maybe because she'd been out with several groups that day already. She pointed out several... More

WOW! If you want an absolutely beautiful horseback ride, this is the place! Gorgeous huge sequoia trees and pines up and down hills in the national park. Plus the folks were fabulous, from the lady who scheduled us to the guides, everyone was really great. The horses were FABULOUS! Really well behaved and made for a very enjoyable ride. I... More

Wow, was just cruising these vacation sites and the review from that girl TrivelGirl100 baffled me. My daughter and I were at Kings Canyon park this July and we took a 2 hr ride. I guess some people don't realize that they are in control of the ride. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and the "leads" were helpful. This was not... More

My horse "Bill" was unwilling to move unless it had to - and the lead admitted this horse would get away with whatever it could -- if the stable knows its going to be a miserable experience for their guests they should sell the horse or put it out to pasture -- I don't know how the horses are treated... Grant Grove Stables are based a couple of minutes drive from the Grant Grove centre, where we were staying in the John Muir Lodge. My wife and kids were keen to try horse riding during our stay in Sequoia/Kings Canyon so the location was perfect. I initially did not want to join in (not a fan of horses) but I... More
