I think my expectations were a little too high. Reviews have referred to it as better than Yosemite, or awesome/amazing/breathtaking but for me it didn't reach those heady heights. It was a lovely drive and maybe my favourite part of it was the feeling of...More

Sometimes you just get lucky. I thought that a late October visit to Sequoia could have the chance to be cold and miserable. Instead, we hit amazing fall weather and the foliage was just turning so the drive in and out of the park was...More

It is a long drive on the Kings Canyon Scenic Byway from Grant Grove Village Visitor Center to Roads End, but it is indeed scenic and winding with varying and beautiful canyon, river, and mountain views. Take anti-nausea meds if you are susceptible to motion...More

Lots more mountains of varying rock formations and colors, waterfalls, and much more serene than Yosemite. King's River was flowing abundantly, whereas Yosemite was dried up. Lots of places to stop and hike with abundant overlooks for photos. It's the fact that it's a giant...More

If you have time to drive to the end of the byway take it. The views are fantastic and provided you are not worried about heights then take the trip. High mountain, valleys and rivers and waterfalls what more could you ask for. Well when...More

I really wish I had my Mini Cooper instead of a rental Nissan Altima for this drive. The road itself is an amazing driving road, which constant twists and turns. It's not a road I'd want to drive at night, that's for sure, but made...More

We did the drive twice in July. Once on the weekend and once during the week. Definitely more cars on the road on the weekend. Stop at the turnouts for pics and spend some time splashing in the river. Water will be cold!

The drive is not as harrowing as some mountain drives. The views are spectacular and unbelievable at times. Absolutely worth the windy roads and slow pace.

Kings canyon byway is a pleasant road to drive. I think it is more scenic and easier than generals highway. There will be no internet so download offline map.

Unlikely. But with extreme patience perhaps. I owned a 23 foot motor home and drove it on mountain passes and canyons. I would not have enjoyed this road. The road from the Kings Canyon entrance to the valley floor is... More

Some do and others are scenic vistas. It’s a crazy winding road into Kings Canyon. Plus, what you go down you must wind your way back up.
