This is a "road less traveled" experience. There is a parking area with a trail leading into ponderosa-studded parkland that in August sports a variety of wildflowers and birds such as Green-tailed Towhees, White-crowned Sparrows and Dark-eyed Juncos. There are short trails into elk pen areas with vegetation thicker than the areas outside the fences. The picnic area is shaded... More

Stopped here and enjoyed an awesome quiet picnic in the cool breezy valley with a wonderful view! 10 tables, 6 with grills... Our favorite lunch was here, grilling and chilling while the kids played. Just gorgeous!

We did this hike in October and it is fairly easy. Steady uphill climb going either way. We went clockwise and found the uphill to be a little more going in that direction. You get to walk through heavy wooded areas as well as an open field. In the fall there a re lots of color on the trees and... More

This area, about a mile in from the park entrance and at 8400 feet, has a nicely shaded picnic area and if you drive further there is a parking lot with several trail options. All of them provide for a pleasant hike. The one I like best starts by walking back along the road for a couple of hundred yards.... More

The Park was pretty busy this day but Upper Beaver Trail was pretty quiet and we really enjoyed the gentle walk, the special vistas and we even saw a couple of elk! Quiet and clean picnic area that we enjoyed after our trek. Very memorable ... we are so thankful to have RMNP as a place to visit and appreciate!

I'm married to a photographer, I just like long loop trails. We both are happy on this one. You'll see aspens, Elk, Ponderosa Pines and wildflowers. It's a moderate plus hike. It will get your heart rate up. And the views are killer. There is a toilet at the trailhead.

Ahhhh. What a nice trail. And it's short, easy and full of the reasons why you came here. Breathe deep, friend. Relax.

Great hike. Convenient to get to and nice drive in. There's vault toilets that are clean. Good parking. Great wildlife viewing opportunities. On a personal note, I lost my father very unexpectedly 2 months ago, and he instilled in me a love for the outdoors. This was a tough and emotional trip, and I thought about Dad a lot. He'd... More

We passed thru Upper Beaver Meadows in Rocky Mountain National Park hoping to see an elk or two during the fall rut. We had seen the amazing changing colors of the Aspen during the same day at Bear Lake and at the Glacier Gorge trail head. We hoped to top our day off by seeing wildlife in its natural environment.... More
