Pretty waterfall
Sep 2020
Relatively short walk/hike to the waterfall, which is the main attraction. There are some other really cool parts, like a giant rock streambed with only a small trickle of water present, or the loads of enormous plants and ferns everywhere. Keep your eyes peeled for chipmunks and tiny mushrooms!

Powerful falls

Powerful waterfalls - well worth the hike.

There are vault toilets (men's and women's) in the parking lot at the trailhead.

Must do waterfall!
Aug 2020 • Family
This is the must do waterfall hike of Olympic! Trail was easy. We did mosey as we had my 80 year old dad with us. Before Sol Duc we did Madison Falls and Marymere Falls. Sol Duc Falls totally kicked both their butts by a long shot!! First pic is Madison. Second pic is Marymere. Third pic is Sol Duc. It was incredible!! Well worth the beautiful drive up the road!!

Don’t go out of your way

I passed the falls on my way to hike the high divide trail. They are nice, but not worth the lengthy drive to get to the trail up to them. Unless you’re staying at the resort or hiking the trail, it might not be worth it to you, but the 0.8 mile walk to them is nice.

Easy forest trail to scenic falls
Jul 2020 • Family
This is one of my favorite short hikes in Olympic National Park. Just past the Sol Duc Hot Springs, the mostly level trail winds through the forest along a creek. While most of the trails is well groomed, there are a few spots with roots and rocks to navigate, but easy enough to do in tennis shoes. At about 3/4 mile, you are rewarded with views of the falls plunging into a slot canyon. The forest is cool an lush. This is a well traveled trail, so you will meet plenty of people along the way. During our hike most people we masked up for COVID when they passed people.

On the road to the parking area, there is a stop for some cascading waterfalls in the river. Interpretive signs tell you about the river and the forest. It’s a good spot for a picnic too.

Really pretty waterfalls
Jul 2020
Short, easy hike with wonderful views at the end. Highly recommend it, especially with a camera. The waterfalls can create a small rainbow when the light hits it just right. I have seen much bigger waterfalls, but they are still beautiful.

Must see!
Jul 2020 • Family
My favorite thing to see in the Olympic National Forest. A bit of a drive once you Pay the fee for national park ($30/day or $80/yr) until you get to the parking lot for the falls hike. There are several hikes for all age groups. We took the one to the falls just over 1.5 miles each way, with a 2 & 7 year old who navigated the whole thing both ways. So much lush green things to see! Perfect place to scavenger hunt for nature. (Of course only for sight not touching or taking) The falls are so beautiful! It is a bit loud close to the falls (on the bridge over the falls). As you walk farther down the river the noise becomes nature. The rocks, water, moss, trees, everything is so amazing. Wonderful place to take photos and explore the nature of a rainforest in WA state. Highly recommend !!

Exercise much?
Jun 2020
We got an early start in the morning and ran the road from the Sol Duc Resort to the trailhead (about 2 miles). Then we hiked the trail to the falls. A fairly easy hike without much incline and about 1.6 miles round trip. The falls were beautiful and well worth the effort. Running back to the resort along the road was great because it was mostly a slight downhill decline. A nice 10K exercise effort in a beautiful forest. The road was quiet and the trailhead empty as we visited during phase 2 opening of the overall area.
