    pretty falls, easy hike
A very pretty hike ending with a scenic waterfall. There are some pretty steep steps at the end to get to the waterfall itself but nothing too bad. Don't be like some arrogant hikers - follow the one way signs to the waterfall to avoid congestion from those coming down from the falls. The hike isn't strenuous, but it's a little less than two miles round trip. Prepare accordingly. If you're a waterfall lover, you'll definitely want to see this one.

Falls are pretty, but the walk there is the best part!
The falls really aren’t breathtaking, but it might have been because there’s less water in summer. There are people EVERYWHERE! Parking was crazy ridiculously bad on Labor Day Weekend, so I’d go early if you really want to see it. I wouldn’t spend all the time to go here again. You have to go down stairs, so it’s not at all wheelchair accessible, but it’s a REALLY easy trail to walk.

Nice trail, could be difficult for older person. Gift shop doesn't have sandwiches to go
I'm posting this review because information that I was looking for prior to going here was either missing or incorrect. First I wanted to know the difficulty of the trail for a senior with mild walking difficulty. The trail has rocks, roots and steps making it little tiring to walk the photo attached only shows a few rocks. The rocks get bigger farther up the trail. I would recommend taking walking poles. Second, in some reviews I read that the gift shop has sandwiches for take out. This was not the case when I was there. They only had drinks and chips, cookies, etc. We ended up eating the bagels we had in the car for lunch.

Great trail, waterfalls, trees, moss, ferns. Enjoyed the Lovers Lane section.
Busy on a Saturday in September. Had to park about 10 minutes walk down the road. The Sol Duc Falls trail is a lovey fairly easy trail up to the falls. Although not for someone that can't do some uphill with stairs and some tree root and rocks to step over. Part of the Lovers Lane was closed when we were there but will take the short section from Sol Duc Falls down Lovers Lane to the falls and one timber bridge of the stream. There is a lovely falls at this point. Maybe not as big but I think as lovely as the Sole Duc one. It is not a long hike but there are definitely are larger rock and tree limbs to step over or down from most of the way so for the occasional walker might not find this their trail.

Fissure in the Forest Floor for Falls
Sol Duc Falls is a 1.6 mile round trip trail in Olympic NP with 226 vertical feet that is an out and back terminating on bridge across the creek where you can see a different type of falls. It is the uniqueness of the waterfall that really makes this a quality attraction in the park. The hike is relatively easy through a beautiful, mature forest but no real significance until the falls. Rather than a cliff face drop, like Marymere, here the landscape in the forest is level with a fissure in the rock that drops to the create a sideways fall. You can look at the pictures, but this is one you really have to visit to see in person. It is the unusual nature of the falls that makes this a great attraction for Olympic and one I recommend.

    Beautiful falls and mossy forest
Beautiful trail wandering through mossy trees and vegetation to an incredibly beautiful falls. The trail was dry and surrounding areas were also very dry. The falls were also low. Still a beautiful walk though forests

    Worth the hike
This was a relatively short hike (1.6 mi round trip) on a well maintained trail. There's no restrooms at the trailhead, but just 1/4 mi back at campground B there are restrooms. The trail has gravel regions, rocks, and tree roots. Not too hard to navigate. You'll pass a nice mossy rock waterfall first before reaching the Sol Duc Falls, which is a beautiful sight. Definitely a nice hike in the Olympic Peninsula National Forest.

Really great hike, but continue on to Lover’s Lane for an even better waterfall with way less people!
Very beautiful walk in the forest to a waterfall! The waterfall, although not my favorite in Olympia, was unique to the other falls I’ve seen because you see it from the side. I highly recommend that you counting past the Sol Duc Falls to Lover’s Lane Falls! This was my favorite part of the hike, just 15 minutes (0.3mi) past Sol Duc. This waterfall was so beautiful and had way less tourists, offering a much more peaceful experience.

    Powerful falls
The hike and the falls were really amazing. On your hike, you will encounter a small waterfall sort of running slowly down some rocks. That is not Sol Duc Falls. A lot of people hiking the day we hiked were fooled by this. Keep going. You will know when you've reached the falls. In June, they were very powerful.

The old growth forest is all around you with pine scents and massive tree canopy overhead. Then arriving at the Falls after this journey through the forest is a great high point (watch out for the tree roots webbing through and around the trail). Dramatic gorge channeling the water below and mists bellowing above amidst dense pines.

Go beyond the viewpoint into the tree canopy along the river - very peaceful. A lovely place to take in the beauty of this park.

As soon as we parked in the parking lot here we made reservations for a noon to 1:20pm soak in the hot pools. We then took our time to hike to the Sol Duc Falls which were amazing. Great photo opportunities at the falls and various vistas. Very cool due to the spray from the falls. Then back to the lodge for a quick change into bathing suits and we tried each of the pools. My husband even went into the regular swimming pool with is very cool. ,Life guard is on duty and he answered questions about the water source etc, Had a picnic lunch outside at a table near the cabins and purchased beverages in the lodge entrance.

Sol Duc Falls is a beautiful waterfall that drops in multiple streams into a narrow gorge. Its unique shape makes it an icon of the park and must visit. From the trailhead at the end of Sol Duc Hot Springs Road, it's about 3/4 mile trail through beautiful rainforest to a footbridge over the river at the falls. There are benches and numerous places to view the waterfall from different angles. After visiting this waterfall, we continued on the trail up to Deer Lake, passing several more waterfall on Canyon Creek.

I passed the falls on my way to hike the high divide trail. They are nice, but not worth the lengthy drive to get to the trail up to them. Unless you’re staying at the resort or hiking the trail, it might not be worth it to you, but the 0.8 mile walk to them is nice.

If you are pressed for time and can only pick one waterfall to visit, Sol Duc is the better experience than Marymere. Sol Duc is a little less crowded because it sits at the back of a few mile road off the main path and it is behind a fee station. It is also a more visually appealing waterfall. Pictures don't really capture the views you'll get in real life. It is a high volume waterfall and cuts a uniquely narrow chasm from the falls. Marymere is a more conventional looking falls, but you probably haven't seen many quite like Sol Duc. You'll also find a few other trails to explore and a hot springs resort.

We did the Marymere and Madison Creek Falls and Sol Duc Falls was definitely our favorite. The walk is really nice and beautiful. It's less than 2 miles round trip and we were done in about 50 minutes. We started the hike around 12:30 (so, probably most people were at lunch) and the parking lot was pretty full but we were able to grab a spot. When we left at 1:20, there were a bunch of cars circling the parking lot. Nearby, there's another parking lot but it says it's for the boaters... not sure if that's monitored or not...

Dogs are not allowed on the trails.

There's something about waterfalls that speak to the heart of my soul. Troubles fade away and a relaxing energy flows over me. This waterfall surprised me with the 3 spillways and a small gorge at the bottom. People were climbing on the rocks, but just standing there to inhale the energy was perfect for body, mind and spirit.

Located at the end of the road, past Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort, at the end of the parking lot.

Pit toilet single bathroom available before the hike; no running water.

Sol Duc Falls hike is a 0.8 miles relatively easy hike to the waterfall and to longer, more rigorous hikes if you want (Deer Lake - 4 miles, Lunch Lake - 8 miles, Soleduck Park - 8 miles).

It is good for families, children, and people not in great shape but want to see the beautiful forest. It is a worthwhile walk.

The Sol Duc Falls hike starts with low steps down the hill. The trail is mostly flat but there is a gentle incline for 200 feet in elevation. You can cross a stream via a bridge or over the nicely placed rocks. The waterfall is a good size and is worth the trip.

Around 9:00 am, the trail was busy. I was coming back from the falls, and there was a stream of families and small groups on their way to the falls with gaps between them. There is room to pass but not at an 8 foot distance.

Sol Duc Falls is a short walk with a slight change in elevation. The trail is well maintained though can get crowded there is plenty to see along the way to the falls as well- different trees, plants and smaller water features. Definitely worth the hike
