Be prepared to drive up hill on very narrow road

My husband and I went up there without knowing the condition of the road. We just saw the sign says 17 miles and decided to go. 9 miles are paved and 8 miles unpaved. The unpaved narrow road up there is quite scary for me. The gravels make it slippery. All the way up, we both thought we should not... More

There is a nice ridge trail from Hurricane Ridge to Deer Park, you both drive up, switch keys in the middle, our therapy group has done this after work.. Also, we have camped many times in the lean tos, always a pleasure. Heaven on Earth. We had my husbands memorial service up here (Mark Thibo, lost his life as incident... More

Road is 9 miles paved - 9 miles unpaved which is in good shape but, steep, winding, a great adventure. The flower community is in full bloom, every mile is covered with flowers that need exploring. Took hours, only because the view and flower hunting was terrific. Top of road opens into meadows for miles, trails to hike. Primitive camping,... More

Easy to get too. Beautiful views. Lots of wildlife. Great place to just be. Allocate a couple of hours to just enjoy. Looking down watching the clouds form beneath you is just mesmerizing.

Deer Park Road is one of the few roads that takes you up in the high country of the Olympic Mountains. The view is stunning. For the day traveler there are several easy hikes and a picnic area. Overnight travelers have the option of staying in the campground or you can use the area as a starting off point for... More

Deer Park Campground on Blue Mountain (6000')is a rustic campground at the end of an exciting road at the top of a mountain. Stunning views from many areas to the north and the straight and south to the Olympics. About 20 degrees cooler on a hot summer day. Road closed in winter. No trailers or campers, so pack up your... Steep winding road made for 1.5 cars at times. The day I made it to the top of the mountain it was overcast but it was still a great view. I read a lot of people recommending over Hurricane Ridge but I would have to say for me Hurricane Ridge was better unless you need a little adrenaline on your... More

Probably the best view you can drive to in the park. Take a lunch and take a drive. It's best to go on a clear day.

The road to Deer Park is indeed a windy steep one. The small camp area with many trails and panoramic views is the real reason to drive in to this location

First of all, let me talk about the views from the top: It is absolutely breathtaking! The 360-degree views are simply amazing. Probably the best we saw during our 5-days in and around ONP! My son (7-years-old) and I were the only ones at the top, so we had that view all to ourselves! Now for the drive up: Be... More
