Ranger gave us a great recommendation as the sky was overcast drizzling etc so is it worth going the 18 miles to the top of the ridge. Yes I'd go up and we did . Well worth it.

On our first attempt to hurricane ridge, we were completely fogged out (which was awful because we planned our loop starting here!). At the pay station, the ranger checked the cams for us and they showed clouds coming in, but mountain views still available for time being. However, by the time we reached halfway up, we couldn't see more than... More

The Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center is much more full service than one is used to for a satellite location in a national park. It is a fairly new building on two levels with massive decks to take in the view of the surrounding area. It is staffed with several rangers who can help with trail maps, and also lead very... More

We were told about the $10.00 lifetime pass for those over 65 at this center and assisted in obtaining the pass.

What makes a great mountain visitor center? How about a 2-level lodge-like building on the edge of a cliff with amazing views of surrounding mountains. Nice gift shop, cafe, and restrooms. Friendly rangers and staff. If it's cloudy, you won't see far, but it's still worth the super winding 16-mile road to get there.

This is a small state park food service restaurant and as such, you wouldn’t expect the food to be very good. And no one would really expect to drive the 17 miles to the top of Hurricane Ridge to eat. Having said that, the food here was surprisingly very good - sandwiches were of a high quality, the coffee was... More

One can drive up to this point. This provides a good lookout point of snow capped peaks also. We also noticed a deer grazing here. So, if you don't want to trek any further, this is a good destination.! There are a few hiking trails from here - some easy, some a little strenuous. The Visitor Center provides all the... More

It is a very busy visitor's center! I could not get my National Passport stamped at the ranger station above, so they accommodated me in the gift shop! The views are great from here, so if you cannot hike the trails, you have a sense of what Hurricane Ridge is like just by getting to the visitor's center.

The young male park ranger I spoke to inside to try to gain hiking as well as overall park information from wasn't friendly or helpful at all. He seemed bothered to have to spend time talking to me. I thought he had an attitude and wasn't impressed in the least. What a shame! Besides from wasting my time talking to... More
