Diablo Dam is located in the North Cascades. It is a little less then 100 years old. The power from the dam serves the city of Seattle. It's an interesting and beautiful stop if you happen to be on route 20.
It was an absolutely gorgeous view of the snow-capped Cascade mountains and Diablo Lake with a dam that you can walk out onto. There were also not many people there when we went so it was very tranquil with the sound of the water.
What an awe-inspiring view from the viewpoint. Take your time to walk around and read the information tables to learn more about the history and geology. Great parking lot and safe return to the highway.
The dam has a roadway going across that's barely 2 cars wide. You cannot park on this roadway (and the rangers will come hassle you if you park even to the side with plenty of space left on the road) but that's where some of...More
On our annual cross country motorcycle trip we had the chance to stop by this dam. The body of water is beautiful and provided some great pictures. If you come this way, take some time and enjoy the views. Travel safe...
