Gorgeous

Beautiful lake and dam. The water is so still and sparked in the sun. You really can't find a more picturesque spot.

90+ year old Diablo Dam is an interesting stop on route 20
May 2019 • Friends
Diablo Dam is located in the North Cascades. It is a little less then 100 years old. The power from the dam serves the city of Seattle. It's an interesting and beautiful stop if you happen to be on route 20.

Breathtaking views

It was an absolutely gorgeous view of the snow-capped Cascade mountains and Diablo Lake with a dam that you can walk out onto. There were also not many people there when we went so it was very tranquil with the sound of the water.

What an awe-inspiring view from the viewpoint. Take your time to walk around and read the information tables to learn more about the history and geology. Great parking lot and safe return to the highway.

Wow!

This is great place to visit. We didn't take a tour, but just walked across the road to the other side. The spillway from the dam was in full force and it was a sight to behold!

Great views!

The dam has a roadway going across that's barely 2 cars wide. You cannot park on this roadway (and the rangers will come hassle you if you park even to the side with plenty of space left on the road) but that's where some of the best views are. You can quite easily miss the turn to the dam itself, so keep on the lookout for a sharp downwards gradient off the main road. Anyway, head to the far end of the dam to find a parking spot from where you can walk and observe both sides of the dam. The water is usually a shocking shade of turquoise, well worth the trip. From here, head on to the Diablo Lake overlook for a more distant but still decent view of the dam, alongisde a great view of the Lake.

This is an amazing place to stop for a few minutes to marvel at the 360 degree vista! The lake is a beautiful color, and the mountains are astounding.

Beautiful Body of Water
Jul 2018 • Couples
On our annual cross country motorcycle trip we had the chance to stop by this dam. The body of water is beautiful and provided some great pictures. If you come this way, take some time and enjoy the views. Travel safe...

A great stop on Route 20

Lake Diablo Dam is great stopping point if you're driving on route 20. It's an older dam with a very nice design. There is parking after you drive over to the other side of the dam.
