We took a road trip from Vancouver, BC in August 2016 and really enjoyed the day. Best viewpoints are along the way from the Visitors centre to Washington Pass. I like Diablo lake & Washington pass loop especially. Wish we could've stayed longer and taken more trails.

Rising spires of the north cascades mountain range, welcoming alpine lakes and waterfalls all make this drive remarkable. There are many spots along the way to stop and take a quick hike. On the west side the scent of the redwoods along the paths make a stop worthwhile. To truly appreciate this area it is essential to stop and do... More

Gorgeous scenery. But don't expect much in the way of services along this path. We did the Diablo Lake trail from the learning center to the other side and back up to the parking area on why. 20. It was a rough hike for me as I am not a lover of too much elevation gain. But it is beautiful.... More

Vacationed here for 5 days so we were on it twice daily as we went to and fro! Gorgeous scenery and waterfalls around many turns in the road that you happen upon before you know to stop. Seeing the snow still hanging around just made this our annual national park trip "snow consistent!" Lots of great hikes too. Watch for... More

We were surprised (and happy) over Memorial Day that there weren't more people making this stunning drive. Well worth the two hours up from Seattle and the best is that there are things to see going out and things to see coming back (as you drive East you see lake and scenery, but much of the mountain scenery you see... This is a hidden gem in pacific northwest, "North Cascades National Park". If you drive from Marblemount to Cascade Pass, you can stop at some great overlooks. If you are a hiker there are plenty of trails that will take you into the wilderness. You will see forest, natural lakes and streams on this scenic drive.

My wife, dog, and I drove through this park and the scenery was beautiful. The mountains, lakes, snow, and greenery all meshed together into an amazing canvas. It was a delight. Be sure to hike the short Washington Pass loop trail for some great pictures of mountain scenery.

This highway is a beautiful drive from one side of the state and through the wildest and steepest national park. Many view points of mountains that rise up dramatically. Look for hanging glaciers (blue ice visible). Most of the trails are long and rugged and not possible for anyone but the fittest and probably mostly younger generation. However, when you... More

Possibly the highlight of a recent trip through the Pacific Northwest. You drive straight through the mountains and there are just stunning views around each corner of the highway. Be aware that the highway is closed during winter months. Traffic flow is pretty slow but that is understandable because of the beauty that surrounds you. You want won't to drive... More

Like everyone said gorgeous! Reminder open in the summer closed in the winter. Lots of areas to stop and you will want to. We filled our gas tank in mt. Vernon and traveled east. That water is incredibly blue and I'm sure I saw Bigfoot cross the road. Very little traffic on the road for summer time. I wish I... More
