Good weather is a plus
Sep 2019 • Couples
We drove here after hiking at Mt Rainer and were thankful for the short drive and the close proximity to the road.
Wildflowers dotted the pathway and the mountain reflection on the lake was certainly a postcard picture.

Be sure to walk along the path to see the various reflections. The water was not perfectly calm so the reflection was not perfect, but still amazing.

Lives up to its name

Yes it is best to pick a clear day, but a few clouds still make a beautiful sight and picture. Easy to get to on the south road in the park, so if you go one day and find it not to your liking, it is a short drive from Paradise. Even located next to the road so you don't have to hike. Check in the morning, do your hike, check again in the afternoon. You will get some postcard pictures. Wheelchair and walking challenged accessible.

Magnificent scenery

The key to getting perfect reflection is to go early in the morning. The winds are down & there are few crowds. Must have taken dozens of photos. Regardless of the type of camera used, the photos come up great.

great hike

We did the reflection lake loop (including High lakes trail). From the parking lot we went left, which I thought was the better route. At about 2/3 of the way around, the trail goes by a wonderful overlook of the valley and Louise Lake. The trail was moderate. This was one of the best trail the few days we were there.

The lake had ripples so we were not able to get a good reflection image.

Always wonderful!

The views of Mt Rainier from reflection lakes are legendary and with good reason. Photographically speaking, this vista is five stars. Like so many of our national parks, however, be prepared that this place is crowded. Arriving a half hour before sunrise, I grabbed the last parking spot. Photographers were spread out strategically with all of the best views claimed. And since everyone is waiting for that 20 minute window of pre-sunrise/sunrise/post-sunrise, not much movement occurs. It also so happened that mosquitoes were horrendous but whole-head netting kept me in the game and unbitten. Watch for individuals who ignore the rock barrier and climb down to the lake edge and into your photo. Beyond that, it remains well worth the visit to see one of the most striking views of this glorious mountain. (A photo from a quick cell phone grab)

No Reflection But Saw a Black Bear!
Aug 2019
The weather was a little cloudy when we went so there was virtually zero reflection on the lake. The lake itself is still beautiful and the trees around it are too. There is a hiking trail that goes around the lake that is really worth it. We did see a black bear moseying around the lake it was awesome!

Must stop if visiting Mt Rainier.
Aug 2019
Beautiful lake just a short drive away from Paradise. Well worth a stop here, if visiting the park. The pictures do not do it justice. There was a bit of wind the day, I was there so did not get the perfect reflection, but still amazing views.

A quite lake with a reflection of Mt Rainier
Aug 2019
This is around 2-3 miles from the Paradise Inn, ample parking around the lake. There is trail around the lake with access to viewing spots which has smaller off shoot trails to the lake. You can easily spend around 30 mins to an hour, it is quite and refreshing!
