I had a great experience climbing with and learning from Chris last week. Chris was so personable, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. He was adept at making me feel confident in skills I had and helping me gain skills that I wanted to develop. Chris was also great at assessing where I was at and making suggestions for what would be most helpful. I left not only with tips and tricks for gear, but with a renewed confidence that I needed to progress in my climbing. I feel ready to move forward now instead of stifled by fears and insecurities that were plaguing me.

We had a wonderful time on our recent trip to Joshua Tree National Park in November thanks to Vertical Adventures. We have climbing experience but had never been to this area, so wanted a guide to help us get oriented so we would be safe. Chris was amazing to climb with and learn from. He is very knowledgeable, makes safety a top priority, is patient and encouraging and just a lot of fun to hang out with. I can honestly say that I left Joshua Tree a better climber because of the time we spent with Chris and his teaching, coaching and the mindset he encourages. Chris is an amazing ambassador for the sport, the park and the businesses in town. I hope we get to climb with him again someday!

We had an excellent time (4h private lesson) with instructor Chris - his local knowledge and encouragement of all different skill levels (kids, teens and adults) was second to none!

I took both the anchoring and the lead course and my four days learning from Chris were phenomenal. The classes far exceeded my expectations both in terms of what I learned and the learning environment. Beyond having a ton of fun, I learned so much, made new friends, built confidence and came away with a good sense of what I want/need to do to keep developing as a climber. The last one is a biggie - the leading class really helped me identify how comfortable I am with taking that step and how to build skills to make me feel more solid. Chris was incredibly professional, safety minded, and supportive, but also relaxed. This really helped create a forum for learning. And I am now very excited to go find some awesome cracks to climb.

I accompanied my rock climbing girlfriend during 4 half-day with climbs using Vertical Adventures at Joshua Tree National Park. I was impressed. Bob is a very detail oriented, safety minded, and excellent guide. He used his expert judgment and experience to get my girlfriend to different climbing sites that were at her level of climbing experience but also challenging. He coached her when needed so that she could experience the joy and challenge of this sport that she loves. He is also very, very safety minded even to or for people like myself that were there not to climb but to observe.
