We got superb advice from the rangers, they warned us about aggressive bees and help plan our drive so we could easily drive ok to Phoenix afterwards. Cute gift shop too.

Be sure to take the time to walk the paved path to the oasis when you stop here. There are a number of cactus varieties, lizards along the path, and it's amazing to find water seeping from the ground in the desert. The staff at the center are helpful , and it is a good place to fill your water... More

The center is actually prior to the entrance gate. Good place to start your visit to Joshua Tree NP. It has a gift shop, snack shop, and exhibits. Park rangers are there and were very helpful.

I stopped by to this visitor center to get some information about the trails nearby. The center has 10:00 AM Ranger talk on Sunday, wish I could stay for the talk. Very clean, professional, friendly rangers. Shall gift shop too.

We stopped here twice during our stay in Joshua Tree. The first time we looked at the displays and began our Jr. Ranger adventure with the grandkids. The second time, we stopped in to get the kids their badges and they were having an art show in their patio. Beautiful examples of desert plants, well marked with signs, helped us... More

Summary based on several visits: --water point and clean toilets --helpful advice, as at many parks --labeled plants helpful in identifying when seen in the wild --great starting point for Oasis of Mara walk on paved "trail" --better store than many parks with some unique, low cost items Highly recommended.

We started our trip through the Park at this entrance. Many have said the Joshua trees are ugly. We found them very unique and interesting. Compared them to snow flakes as no two trees seem to be the same shape. Rock formations are also awe inspiring. It is amazing to look at the rocks and wonder how they are still... More

Loved the views on the hikes. We enjoyed looking at the rock formations and seeing what figures they looked like.
