Exploring Hawaii’s Big Island can be a big undertaking, but it doesn’t have to be. Avoid the stress of planning out all the details with this guided tour that includes round-trip transport, lunch, snacks, and bottled water for your convenience. Because there’s minimal walking distance during this tour, it’s perfect for people of all ages and fitness levels. Plus, if the weather gets dreary, rain gear is provided to keep you dry.

This is the endpoint for the Chain of Craters Road. It’s a .2 mile walk to a viewpoint which looks back into an eroded sea stack much in the distance. Living in Northern California, I did not find it to be anything special or unique. But, it is a small investment for those who don’t live near to the ocean. At least, it was better weather down along the coast!

It is cool when you think of the forces of nature that created it, but not that spectacular relative to other arches we have experienced. This one does look like it is going to fall over soon, so if you want to see it, go quickly! The vantage point was a little disorganized, but worth the short walk if you have completed the drive for valley of the craters.

Only a short walk from where you park your car. Interesting to view along with the whole coastal view of black lava cliffs.

The lava flows have cut off the road to the arch. Now you have a 9 mile round trip hike to get to the overview for the arch. Take plenty of water if you are going to do it.
