We thoroughly enjoyed the tour of the crater and everything else above the drop off point. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, thorough, and fun as he taught us all about Haleakala and Hawaiian history. The ride itself was great - as he said - this a bike ride you can gain weight on because there was limited work to... More

Came to Maui July 18. Rented a bike online to ride the sunrise viewing from top of volcano without a tour. I have a moderate amount of road biking experience. I ride once or twice a week at home. Picked up the bike after arriving from the airport. Make sure you can pick the bike up by 4 pm. Got... More

Our family of four (two adults + two teens) opted for the non-sunrise option. Regrettably, the weather didn't cooperate. We didn't see any of the volcano at the summit. Our ride was very wet, occasionally bordering on harrowing. Negotiating the many switchbacks downhill in a cloud and driving rain was a good challenge, especially for my 14-year-old daughter. However .... More

We were blessed with beautiful weather, and the most wonderful driver - Aliika? He made the LONG van ride up (with many bathroom stops) fairly easy, thanks to his knowledge and good humor. The 4 kids, ages 9-13, did okay, except for some car sickness and boredom. We all (including mom & grandparents -age 66) had SO MUCH MORE FUN... More

What a great experience to watch a spectacular sunrise. The day started very early 145am picked up from our accommodation in Kannapali the bike company was very efficient we arrived to be sized up for our bikes around 3am then arrived to the summit at 5am ready for sunrise at 543am it was very cold, the bike company did supply... We did the sunrise tour, although it required getting up very early that morning, it was definitely worth it. The equipment appeared very well taken care of and the bus driver was very informative and fun to talk with. Safety appeared to be a priority for the company, and they checked on us a few times as we went down... More

I booked the Sunrise ride for my husband and I, only to tweek my knee on a hike three days before necessitating me to cancel my ride, but this has been a bucket list adventure for my husband so he opted to go solo and I'm so glad he did. He had a blast and loved every moment! Yes, there... More

This is definitely one of those bucket list items - Bike down from the top of a volcano. My wife, son and I took the sunrise trip with self-guided bike tour. While it was a bit painful to have to get up and travel to the shop by 3:00am in the morning, the trip was worth it. The bus driver/tour... More

We chose to drive there from our hotel in Ka'anapali beach for the sunrise tour. The staff was great from start to end. Tim (you will have to get there soon before he retires) kept us laughing all the way up. Got to the top, pretty cold considering, and unfortunately the cloud and drizzle wouldn't lift. Had a great ride... More

Two in our party of four had previously done this bike trip with Haleakala Bike Company, had a wonderful experience, so it was a given to use the company again. The van driver, Tim, was informative and pretty funny; he made sure everyone knew the route down, and the quality of the bikes is excellent. Unfortunately for our group, the... More
