This is a must see while on the island of Maui. It's about an hour drive to the top but the views are like no other and you are surrounded by amazing views while 10k feet above sea level. Bundle up though as it's very...More

The meteor shower was "scheduled" to peak at 5am, so we departed our condo in Lahaina at 2am for the two hour drive to the summit. It was extraordinary having the road to ourselves! We went prepared with our winter gear as well as blankets...More

There are fantastic views from Haleakala, above the clouds. Very windy & chilly so take some warm clothes to layer in. The drive up is scenic, but a little scary if you don't like twisty/ turny narrow roads going up a mountain slope with no...More

By far one of my favorite places in Maui! The trek up is breathtaking as you climb above the clouds. It is not that long of a drive in my opinion. There are tons of great short and long hikes starting at the first visitor...More

We Maui Bike Co's late morning tour in December; luckily we didn't select the sunrise tour and get up at 2am for nothing, because it was pretty cloudy all day and we heard the bikers coming back from the sunrise tour were kind of "meh"...More

Offered excellent views of Maui and a really nice hike (not too difficult). Tried getting there before sunrise but too many people were ahead of us at the top so we weren't allowed all the way up--get there VERY early if you plan to watch...More

I love photography. If you want to take a picture of the most stunning sunset, make your way to the top. Leave 3 to 4 hours early to get there for sunset. Now here is the hint, while all the tourist photographers take their shots...More

While not a particularly long distance, the drive is very slow due to hairpin turns on this road snaking its way up the 10,000 foot climb to the summit. Do go on a clear day so you get the best views. Not much to do...More

Absolutely. It's an awesome view...better yet, the crater won't be in shade and you'll be able to enjoy the vastness of Haleakala.

It depends on what time of day. If you are in the going up for sunrise herd, it can take awhile depending on how many RVs you are behind. If not, then it won't even take 20 minutes from entrance to top parking lot.
