I have some friends who just moved to Rich Mountain and oh my what a beautiful ride. It's a windy road but the views are worth it.

It gets you out of the Cade’s cove crowds but is boring. It’s basically a drive through the woods on a gravel road. There is one admittedly beautiful lookout over the Cove at the beginning of the drive, but it is one way so you...More

This road is unimproved and dusty but very quiet. Some say the views are wonderful but I only saw one spot on the way down with a view. If you want a quiet drive back down this is the way but it takes a while...More

Didn't see any wildlife... 😢 but a beautiful drive. Not for the faint of heart. One suggestion take a map. There is no internet service. Once you get to the end you can get a little lost.

Used this road as an exit from the Cade’s Cove traffic jam. It’s an unpaved road through the mountain that brings you out in Townsend. The sign says it’s 12 miles, but only about 7-8 miles is unpaved. You do not need 4 wheel drive...More

Found this great road after leaving Cades cove. This is a great scenic road and it is not heavily traveled so you can slow down to enjoy the views and take pictures. I would love to see the view from this road in the Fall.

Fun drive out of crowded Cade's Cove. There was so little traffic on this road that often we would just stop in the middle of the road to take pictures. We saw only 2 other cars for the whole 12 miles. It was a very...More

We drove by and stopped for some amazing pictures. This is a very scenic area and a must see when you are in the area. We were surprised that the traffic was not heavy when we stopped for some awesome pictures. Loved this area.

I do not remember being fearful of any drop offs while driving on this road. You can hug the middle of the road or whatever side of the road you want to since it's one way. It was a gorgeous drive in the fall. If I remember... More
