Perfect location for a break!

We stopped off here to eat lunch in the shade and take a break from all the hiking. It was a nice little place with a beautiful stream. Also has a bathroom:)

My 3 grandchildren loved walking in the creek on the Bottoms. We picnicked & made the most precious memories with my 85 y/o mother! Priceless😃

This is a lovely spot, to picnic, wade, catch crawfish, and just enjoy a beautiful day. Water's cold, even in the summer! And this part of the park doesn't get as many visitors, I don't think. Bring water shoes! Also, make sure everyone stays away from the green plants that grow on the side of the river - plenty of... More

A creek and a grill; who needs anything else. Metcalf Bottoms is located on river road, about 1/2 way between Gatlinburg and Townsend. It's accessible from Wears Valley as well. The picnic area is large; with parking on both sides of the road. The creek here isn't as deep as it is in other areas, but it's wider. And, it's... More

We met my family here for a picnic (we were visiting from FL and they are in Knoxville). We chose a table on the east side along the river. We waded in the water (the kids swam) which was very refreshing on a hot day. Aqua socks are highly recommended as there are rocks and you need the grip. There... More

After driving through this area on the way to Elkmont, we promised our boys we would get a picnic lunch the next day and come back. We arrived pretty early on a weekday and easily snagged a picnic table next to the river. The kids spent hours splashing in the water, only taking a break to eat. The water is... More

We were shocked at how many picnic tables and griils and restrooms there were. Plenty of parking. Nice shady area near the river.

Parked here to hike to Litttle Greenbrier School (1 mile away). Did not picnic here but plan to do so the next time we are in the area. There are a lot of picnic tables spread out and charcoal grills. Very relaxing spot.

We picnicked several time while on vacation this year and the kids had a blast every time. The kids tubed down the river and we found a spot where the water is deep enough to jump from a rock about 10 feet up. We will continue coming here every year.
