We hiked Grotto Falls on our last day in TN. Our family of 4 (8 and 11 yo kids) took about 2 hours to complete the hike. The tree roots grow out of the trail and reminded us of The Hobbit. There are definitely parts...More

My son and I went on a misty day. It felt like an enchanted forest. It probably took about 3 hours round trip. When you get to the top the water fall is lovely and you're able to walk behind it as well. I definitely...More

The trailhead for this hike is at stop #5 on the Roaring Fork Motor Trail. Technically it’s called the Trillium Gap Trail, which goes all the way to the top of Mt. Le Conte, but most hikers only do the first 1.3 miles to Grotto...More

This was a hike, folks. All of 1.8 miles. Steep, sometimes very hairy trek with roots and boulders. Many stumbling risks. Probably a 3% incline in several places. Exhausting to some. Take a long break at the top. If you have kids - please, PLEASE...More

Awesome view of the falls. About 1.2 miles walking up an incline almost all the way. Wet, rocky with stumps. Can be done in tennis shoes but highly recommend hiking shoes. It is worth the trip

Steady incline trail with lots of cool tree roots on the way and also some nice water features crossing the path. The way up seems endless but the way back goes much quicker all downhill. Falls were beautiful and everyone took turns taking pictures behind...More

This is a fairly easy, beautiful hike for all ages. It was cool that you could walk behind waterfall. Get there early to find a parking spot.

The falls were beautiful. The trail is a workout going up because of the incline but it’s definitely worth it. There’s a few spots for good pictures, the way down is so quick since you’re going down.

The hike to Grotto Falls was beautiful. It was also very busy. We got to the trail around 10am thinking we would be early enough to beat the crowd. Wrong. I guess you have to get out there before the sun comes up. Don’t get...More

This is my absolute favorite hike to do in the Smokies. The hike is an easy hike back to the falls. Once you get there, you can walk behind the falls. Very pretty!!!

We hiked a bit and then just found some nice flat rocks to picnic on. I'm not sure if there are picnic tables around. We improvised. There may have been picnic tables in the area off the main road, if I am remembering... More
