We stopped here on a rainy day and even though the clouds were low, we could still make out the view which was fantastic. Later in the day we drove past and stopped and the clouds had cleared. Worth the stop and many places to park.

I've never forgotten the first time I saw the lake and the Grand Teton's in the background years ago. Seeing them again musters the same feelings and energy each time I stop by. The overlook is a great place to photograph the Teton's with the lake in the foreground. A quick hike down the trail to the clear lake will pay dividends - as we took a quick dip. The small rocks at the waters edge are hard on tender feet so bring your flip flops.

The view across this magnificent 18-mile-long lake from this turnout is very satisfying and very easy to enjoy. The northern Tetons on the far shore, beneath which there are no roads and no trails, invite contemplation. Dead trees from a lightning-caused fire in 1974, are interpreted by roadside display. And the moods of the sky and the clouds and the lighting upon the peaks change continually. Pause for a moment on your way to or from and reflect.

We got here a little later in the day, so the sun was getting low, which made for amazing views. This is one of many places to stop along Jackson Lake, all of which provide amazing scenery.

This is one of the best stops along the road to get a 360 degree photo of the Tetons. You can walk a bit and get varying vantage points.

Honestly, we will drive through the Grand Teton National Park on our way to Yellowstone, but we always make a point to stop at this overlook for a quick pic. It pretty much sums up the beauty of the park with one shot; the snow capped mountains cascading along the magnificent Jackson Lake. If you staying in the park, the best times to get a photo here is during dawn or dusk or even overcast to allow the true color density to sink in. The sunsets are also a site to see as the sun disappears behind the mountains. There is a turnout for parking and it can get crowded, so be mindful, especially if wildlife is around the area. We have never picnicked here, but it is a great stop to stretch your legs and grab a bite while enjoying the view.

Jackson Lake Overlook is a view point on John D. Rockefeller Jr Parkway. It's the first view point if you're entering Grand Teton from the north. Some TA reviewers have it confused with Jackson Lake Dam, which is on Teton Park Road.

My husband and I drove down from Yellowstone to Grand Teton on a beautiful sunny Tuesday in August and stopped at Jackson Lake Overlook. It was our first real look at the Tetons, and we were amazed by the stunning scenery. No Photoshop or filters required.
