I would highly recommend this hike. We started at Death Canyon TH and hiked to Phelps Lake, up the Death Canyon and on to the shelf. The views are incredible when you gain elevation. We found a great campsite in an open area with many...More

We used Death Canyon on the way up to Static Peak divide (did not make the last mile due to snow unfortunately). This was an excellent trail and we will come back for more in the future. Few hikers to share it with in the...More

Our group of 18 hiked this trail on June 22. The ages ranged from 7-72. We had four vehicles total. Three of us parked in the small parking lot. One of the vehicles (with my parents in it) has four wheel drive, and parked closer...More

We hiked this trail our second day in Jackson Hole and it did not disappoint. Not very crowded, but enough fellow hikers to not feel so alone deep in bear country. Lots of bear "evidence" but we did not see any, unfortunately (I really wanted...More

The road to the trail head is definitely a high clearance vehicle only road right now. Parking at the start of the dirt road is a great option for regular cars. We parked at the bottom and hiked up to the trail head. It was...More

Getting to the parking was the worst part, the trail has huge potholes! The hike was not bad and we ran into 4 moose and it was a moment of a lifetime! The finish of the trail is an overlook of Phelps lake- talk about...More

We only hiked as far as the Phelps Lake Overlook. The climb was a bit steep but still very doable. I would describe it as easy to moderate. There are plenty of places to stop along the way and catch your breath if you are...More
