We have done this trip many times with whomever comes to visit us, and we have consistently enjoyed it over the years. This year, our guide (Chris) was fabulous, and his knowledge and insight made it the best river trip we’ve had! Even a bit of unexpected rain turned into an opportunity, as our guide shared ponchos, blankets and wise words about keeping warm and comfortable during what turned out to be just a brief shower. Barker-Ewing has always had the most knowledgeable guides, and we think it makes their float trips a cut above anyone else in Jackson. You get wonderful views, a wealth of knowledge and a terrific way to spend 2.5 hours.

Thanks so much for sharing this glowing review of your Barker-Ewing scenic float trip - and we'll be sure to share your kind words with Kris. And we're so glad to hear that the brief rain shower you encountered didn't leave you too uncomfortable, but as they say in the Tetons, "If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes!"

Had an incredible time with Michael as our guide on the 5:00 float. I can't imagine this trip being any better with anyone else. He was so knowledgeable with a great sense of humor. He kept our 10 year old grandson engaged and listening the entire trip. He asked us what we hoped to see. We told him eagles and a moose. He said he could guaranty eagles, a moose is always a possibility, but no guarantees there.

We saw the first eagle before we got in the raft flying overhead lol. We got to see an eagle osprey battle while he explained many facts about both osprey's and eagles. I believe we saw 5 eagles possibly 6. Outstanding majestic birds that i always thrill me.

We counted 16 beavers along the trip, learned about beavers, the changing of the river, the Teton themselves and witnessed a beautiful sunset in spite of all the smoke.

Then Michael got extremely excited while he pointed out the moose to the group. She was in a bad part of the river to be crossing, and he pointed out she was just an adolescent. We got to witness her swimming across and thankfully she made it safely. What an incredible experience for our grandson. My husband and I have seen many moose in the lakes in Glacier feeding, but we had never witnessed one swimming across a river. So thrilling for all of us. Michael had to maneuver around her while his skills showed through.

At the end of the trip, he asked our Grandson if he could come help him out for a minute and gave him a lesson on paddling the raft and let him have the oars for a minute, talk about the thrill of a lifetime for him. He was very comfortable with kids.

This trip was amazing! My favorite place is on the water especially at sunset in a beautiful place with an interesting and personable guide that made you feel like you were with an old friend.

I can't recommend this company and this trip enough. Just book it. You won't be sorry.

We had a blast on the BE Float trip we took!
There were 2 families and 8 people total and we really enjoyed the float, views, wildlife and knowledge from our guide (we had a noon trip and it ended up just the 8 of our group on the boat).
We had Travis, who was really amazing and fun and we all enjoyed his sense of humor. We had a million questions and he had all of the answers. We spent over a week in the West but this day was definitely a top highlight for everyone that went - adults and teen boys included!

It was a slow boat… Raft ride down the snake river. The guide was very knowledgeable. This was a good thing because we didn’t see any animals at all except two eagles in one tree which may or may not been a prop.. ha ha. I’m sure some folks see all kind of animals that we saw nothing and it was a long long long two hours. We learned a lot… It was like a museum on the water. Plus it kind of irked me that we got no kind of snacks or treats or food and we even had to bring our own water…for 160 bucks. It was definitely not cheap.. If you took kids on this trip I think they would’ve gone crazy nothing to do for two hours and lazily floating along.

We took a 4 pm scenic float tour of the Snake River with our excellent guide James. He was able to masterfully guide the boat and also share important historical, geographical and botanical info along the way. A relaxing and beautiful way to experience Jackson!

Tour was professional, focused on safety as well as enjoyment and well-run.

We took the mild scenic float trip down Snake River. Our guide was James & he was very knowledgeable. These guides have to be strong in order to paddle & navigate the obstacles in the river. The scenery was stunning. The float was so peaceful & beautiful. This was one of the best experiences we have ever had. We saw a moose & baby on the shoreline, & then my husband also spotted a moose in the water eating grasses. I would do this again in an instant. I WILL do this again. We are too scared for whitewater, & this was perfect. They give you life vests & help you into the raft. I recommend bringing a small bag for your items like cameras, binoculars, etc. My husband & I put these items around our necks & felt strangled with the addition of the life vests, so just put them in a bag. Barker Ewing's guides all have many years of experience. You will not regret this wonderful experience.

I can’t say enough about the folks at Barker Ewing and our August 29th float trip. Our guide Jed and the staff met us promptly at 8:00 am and we were off to the launch site. We hit the water after a short but informative safety lecture. The boat launched easily and great care taken to get all onboard effortlessly
Our boat had two couples and a family with one child. Jed did a great job engaging our parties both separately and together. He had the right mix if informing us about what we saw and letting the scenery speak for itself . He was happy to answer any question posed. While hoping for more wildlife, we did see several bald eagles.
I would take this trip again on Barker Ewing

My High School girlfriends and I had a 65th birthday celebration in Jackson Hole and your company came highly recommended by the Event Planner at The Four Seasons.
We had a fabulous time, and we loved our guide Kris (as he says Kris with a K)!
He was So Knowledgeable about every Peak, the formation of the river, the flora and fauna, the bald eagles AND we were fortunate to see a Wolf and as he called "the keystone" of the entire habitat. His passion and love for the river and the land made it so enjoyable.
As the river was high and the wind was whipping, he had full control in maneuvering that big boat giving us the security of feeling that we were in good hands.
In addition to his knowledge and skill, he was a really funny guy.
Thanks Kris from those Crazy Gals from Xavier High School in Phoenix!

So glad you got to spend your 65th birthday on the Snake River with Barker-Ewing. Kris had a great time with your group - and it sounds like seeing a wolf made an already memorable trip even better!

What an experience! The best 3 hours of beautiful scenery and the most pleasant trip down the Snake river! Our guide, Jed, was amazing. He was very entertaining and knowledgeable about the surrounding area; providing a bit of history and fun facts. Thanks for a great day!

My husband and I have been visiting the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone for the last 2 weeks. One of my bucket list items was to raft down the Snake River. I had wanted to do a whitewater raft trip but the temperatures here had been only in the 60’s so the water was very cold so we opted for the 10 mile scenic Snake River float. We have rafted other rivers so we wanted a company with experienced guides. We found it with this company. We have been on trips where you wonder about the guides ability but all the guides here had years of experience and in this river. We did the 2:00 tour the day had been overcast it had been raining off and on so the river was up. There are not any rapids but there are a lot of fallen trees in this section of river. Our guide Jed was friendly and professional with a great knowledge of the river and areas around the Tetons. We enjoyed the float amazing views of the mountains. In the afternoon you may not see many animals we did see ducks and a bald eagle. I highly recommend this company. One more note we were scheduled for one day but my husband was sick that day and when I called thinking we would just have to cancel we were actually able to move to the next day. I am sure that later in the summer that may not be possible but we certainly appreciated it.

What a thrill to have made your bucket list! So glad you were able to float the river with us - and you made a smart choice to opt for a scenic trip during this very cold and rainy June. And you're right: our guides have more experience than just about anyone out there on this stretch of the Snake River, and the river can be quite technical during high water. Happy to have had the chance to share this amazing place with you!
