One of the prettiest lakes in the Park

I have lived in Jackson for 38 years and will say that this is one of the most peaceful, beautiful places in the Park. To kayak in this lake you must start in String Lake and go to the right….all the way and pull your boat out of the water. Then follow the boards to Leigh Lake which is about... More

This trail is about 2 miles and level, so even people who are not in the best shape can enjoy this hike. My mother has severe back problems and was able to do it with no problem. The views are astounding! So worth going!

This trail is well paved and the lake is absolutely gorgeous. We went in the morning and there was no one else out. It was quite chilly but warmed up quickly. The water is CRYSTAL clear (I even drank out of it using my Lifestraw!). Don't need to do the entire hike to see the lake, either. Supposedly there was... More

Put in on String Lake and paddle north. You'll get to a take out and have to portage 100 yards to Leigh Lake, but the scenery is awesome. In the summer come as early as possible, because the winds usually pick up shortly after lunch and give a headwind back to the portage.

This is a bit more secluded and harder to get to but worth it! Access to Leigh Lake is from String Lake. Usually we canoe from Jenny Lake through String Lake to Leigh Lake. This has a 100 yard portage. Leigh Lake has good secluded camping spots both at the far western stream inlet (2) or on the point with... More

This is a nice easy trail that is easily walkable in tennis shoes. Love the views of the Tetons and the dense forest. Take a moment to breath in the Lodge pole pine smells, if it has been a warm day the aroma is absolutely the best. This is a great hike as you can take as little time or... More

We did this trail as an add on to Jenny Lake Trail. Lovely trail with lots of shade.. .beautiful river into the lake... We saw lots of kayakers and next time, we'll be doing that for sure.

An easy trail that skirts the lake front. Beautiful scenic overlooks as well as forests. Well traveled and picnic site at trailhead. Canoes and kayak launches available. Restrooms and ample parking.

Leigh Lake is a hidden gem that connects almost to the north end of String Lake. It takes a hike or a paddle and portage to get there, but the beauty is well worth the effort. Solitude, spectacular scenery, and pristine wilderness await. We kayaked the perimeter of the lake and basked in the stunning beauty nestled up against the... More
