This is an easy walk on a paved trail to some of the best views of the canyon from the North Rim. Leave yourself half of a day to drive all the way out and stop and see the different overlooks. There aren't hardly any people out in this part of the canyon- it is wonderful.

Cape Royal trail is paved and easy. The views are fabulous! Picnic tables are nearby before trail begins. Cape Final Trail is nearby. A short drive away. We walked both in one day. Cape Royal is short and easy. Cape Final Trail is longer and is much more wooded. We loved both. Bring water and camera.

This a winding road off Highway 67 which takes you to a marvelous viewpoint. Take water and camera. Not crowded since many opt not to make the drive.

This trail is short, less than a mile return, paved and flat, thus very easy and is wheel chair accessible. This trail is one of the things about the North Rim that makes the North Rim worth visiting. It rivals anything on the South Rim. Cape Royal, where the trail is, is at the end of Cape Royal Drive and... More

Although the elevation is over 8000 feet this easy hike brings one to another fantastic view of the expansive Grand Canyon. Cape Royal is one of the few places where the Colorado River is visible from the top of the canyon rim. Beautiful views!

We visited Cape Royal after stopping at Imperial Point. I had read on TA that you should drive all the way to the end of Cape Royal Road, passing any overlooks on the way. The advice was to visit Cape Royal / Angel's Window at the end of the road, then stop at other viewpoints on the way out. We... More

This is the prettiest of all the areas you and visit and walk. The canyon is beautiful from here - deep reds penetrate the morning light, and sun highlights the formations in the Canyon. It is truly gorgeous.

On a day trip to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon we wanted use the brief time we had after dining at the Grand Canyon Lodge to see more of this spectacular country. Someone suggested that we try the Cape Royal Trail. Perfect! Just what we wanted! Although the drive to the trailhead took about 40 minutes, the trip... More

We were lucky enough to be told about the road to Cape Royal from an employee of the North Rim Lodge. How lucky it was. We started the drive out, it is 45 minutes if you don't stop, and it was a bit foggy, or would you say cloudy as at 8,000 foot elevations we are in the clouds. We... More

This is a flat trail maybe a 30 minute drive from the main lodge at the North Rim. Highlights are Angel's Window and the large "temples" which are closer to this side than the south rim. There are a few overlooks here, so you can separate from any larger groups.
