An easy trail, about 1 mile. Has great views of the canyon. There are several educational signs to describe scenic views and the plants and animals in the area.

This "easy" trail is the reward after a relatively "long" drive on Cape Royal road. So if you have decided to drive all the way here, spend some time to enjoy the fantastic view on both Cape Royal and Angels Window. It's also a good...More

A short, beautiful, accessible walk (not really a hike) with awesome views. Trail markers identify the views and talk about the interesting vegetation, trees, and flowers. Angel's Window is magnificent. The trail closed the day after we visited due to wildfires. I sincerely hope it...More

If you drove all the way here, you MUST take the short hike out to the view point for some wondrous views of the canyon. Well worth the experience. An easy walk, but take water anyway.

This trail is in a less populated area of the North Rim. There is a parking lot with restrooms at the end of the road. The trail is paved and mostly flat with interpretive plaques. There are views of the Colorado River and Angel’s Window.

This is the most beautiful views of the north rim in my opinion. Easy hike with the most breathtaking views.

Grand Canyon North Rim (26 Replies)
We have 2 nights booked (giving us one full day) at the north rim, 20th & 21st September. We will be driving from Bryce Canyon so could arrive there early in the afternoon. We have visited the south rim twice before but not the north. Could somebody please give me suggestions as to how we can plan our time there. We are fairly fit late 60 year olds who don't mind a short hike or two and I'm keen on photography. Looking on a web site I noticed these "easy" hikes - Bright Angel Point Trail,...More

How to safely enjoy rain at the North Rim Grand Canyon? (11 Replies)
OK, after reading "too much" advice on this topic on tripadvisor and GC guide booklet I know that: 1) Coming in September, we are very likely to hit a rainy day. 2) Lightning strikes on rim can be dangerous, and if near you you should get inside a car or building. 3) A warning sign that lightning is about to strike near you is that your hair stands on end. 4) Storms can be very circumscribed and occur in some parts of the Grand Canyon and not others, and weather forecasts of rain and...More

or maybe even if it's not raining on you but you see any lightning (even if the boom is very delayed and muffled indicating distance) its not safe to be on the trails near the rim? I just don't know how to put together all the posts about "enjoy your grand canyon hike in the rain, it's still the grand canyon and it's great" with the warnings that lightning storms on the rim are very dangerous.
