You can't skip it on a road trip! Nobody does that.
The Grand Canyon is easy to see from several points which we did only from the south rim, where we entered. I guess I have seen so many photos of it in my lifetime, that nothing surprised me. The vastness of it is so hard to comprehend when you're there unless you hike or go to more than one side of the canyon. The thing I was disappointed in was that the South Rim Visitor's Center was closed...in September. Big surprise and it would have been nice to see the educational information that is often in the National Park's Visitor's Centers. I'm glad I saw the GC, and there are many areas to stop with large parking lots including restrooms, and a walk to each overlook for viewing. We were on a road trip through several states and of course included the Grand Canyon, Bryce, and Zion National Parks as well as the surrounding areas. See it we did! Throughout these areas there is also so much to see from the road driving through this several state area. I found Zion to be the most stunning of all. But the Grand Canyon is just one of those you have to include. I'm not even including any photos of GC, because we've all seen them a thousand times without being there in person.

    Absolutely breathtaking
We headed up to Grand Canyon National Park two days after a snow storm. Desert View road was closed because of the storm but the park still had so many amazing views to offer. The rangers were all extremely friendly and helpful. The views and I cannot state this enough were breathtaking. This was my first time at the Grand Canyon and it honestly moved me to tears, truly beautiful.

Words are not adequate - Need to see it
Second visit for me. First for family. They found the place awesome and amazing. Words and pictures cant due justice. One has to experience it in person. First morning we were the only ones at the entry station. Mid March - a Sat. morning. Was not overly crowded at all. Shuttles running. Once we figured out the colors and routes....enjoyed our day. We had hoped to hike some of the trails down into the canyon but it was way too icy and slippery. In evening we drove over to the East side and the Desert Tower. Very happy to find the tower was open again and we were allowed to climb to the top -great views. Came back Sunday morning, had to wait a bit longer to get in. Park seemed to get crowded fairly quickly. Overlooks were pretty busy. When we left at noon the cars were lined up from the entry station almost all the way into Tusayan (2 miles away) and there was a continuous line of cars coming from Williams. If one gets the chance they should see the G. Canyon. It is quite the scenic wonder.

    A must see
We visited the South rim in late April. The Canyon is breathtaking and pictures do do it justice. The park is large with trails, museums, restaurants and stores. We liked down Angel Head Trail a bit to be under the rim. It is a bit scary if you are afraid of heights but worth it. We also hiked along the upper rim to see the views. The park was busy but manegable. I expect it gets very busy during the summer.

    Amazing
We arrived from Zion National Park, so we arrived through the East Entrance, South Rim. Right after that entrance, you’ll definitely want to check out the Dessert View as not also the view is great as expected, it has a famous tower built in 1932 and during the day you can get a free ticket to go towards the top. Also as a bonus tip, inside the tower is a gift shop and while not a visitor center, at the information desk they can give you a Junior Ranger book in case you needed one. One thing to keep in mind is that if you go through the East Entrance, it’s a solid 30 minutes to get to the ‘village’ with the various hotels and attractions and that’s assuming you don’t make any stops along the way. It’s a unique place as it’s the first national park I went to that had actual schools and a church on site (perhaps other places like Yellowstone have them too, but you don’t see them on the main route). One thing to keep in mind that while we were there, the visitor centers were only open until noon due to staff shortages . While not required like Zion, there is a shuttle service and there are different routes. We didn’t take one since we were there for a day, but they looked packed and the main one that went to the various hotels (blue) had many stops so you’ll need to be patient. There are various hikes you can take, and they don’t all involve going into the canyon so if you don’t have time, you can still enjoy the beauty. Unlike other national parks where you may have limited to no options, there are a decent number of places to eat and plenty of gift shops that are happy to take your money. One thing that was disappointing is that some of the park is rundown. For example, Hermits Rest is a great place to watch the sunrise. However, while there, I noticed that the fencing in portions is mostly torn/fallen off, and the informational signs look very worn. In both cases, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s been that way for years. With the large volume of visitors (and money) that’s coming in, there is no reason that can’t be maintained, and I’ve been to multiple other national parks and didn’t see this. Of course, I would still recommend going, but just something I wasn’t expecting to see.

    You must see.
You really can’t imagine how big the canyon is until you walk through it. Clean. They did pack the busses which we weren’t happy with. Hard to hold on when you have so many people sitting and standing. Bring lots of water.

    Great American landmark
Spectacular scenery everywhere you look. A must-see National Park. I would have rated it 4 1/2 if I could because the huge Visitor Center was closed. Nobody home. Forget getting info or help… they’re not available. Apparently they are training new park rangers. This came as the park was full of people who came for the eclipse. Only the government would make a stupid decision like that. Come anyway.

    Awe Inspiring
I am 67 and have wanted to visit the Grand Canyon for most of my life. Of course I had seen countless photos and videos of it so I thought I knew what to expect. But when we came to the first lookout area and the Canyon came into view... OH MY GOD! You can't prepare yourself for the the awe and magnificence of seeing it in person. It's so big, so high, so wide, so amazing.... just breathtaking. So glad I finally got to experience this wonder.

    Must see once!
You will have to see it once I guess, what with it being a natural wonder. Once inside the park (as it’s also called), you have three shuttles, red, blue and orange. You will want to catch sunset at the canyon, which we did at Hopi point. When the bus dropped us back at the drop off point, it was so dark we couldn’t see where we were, and had a tough time finding our way to our car. Later we saw that different parking lots have posts with different animals but it’s hard to see in the dark, there is just no light, either in the lot, near the lot or anywhere else. So remember where you parked and note down the landmarks. Or have some GPS to guide you. PS: If you can, go the Desert View Watchtower point, two stops before the Watch tower stop, you'll get the most spectacular views of all the South Rim points.

If you travel to Sedona, make a MANDATORY trip to the Grand Canyon. It’s undeniably one of the most majestic views you will ever witness. We had an incredible tour guide, Steve, who was a walking, talking encyclopedia. The view is enough to take in but it will be much more meaningful if you bring along a knowledgeable tour guide like Steve.

If you’re traveling there in October and decide to venture until sunset, be sure to bring a sweater. It gets cold!

Took a day trip by plane from Vegas one day, well worth it! We were brought to the west end of the canyon to spend a few hours roaming by ourselves. Was this something to see...its hard to truly wrap your head around it, especially since it might hit you how big the canyon really is! I've never been afraid of heights and im still not, however being able to walk right up to the edge of the canyon with nothing to stop me from falling was extremely cool and freaky at the same time. In some parts of the canyon there are railings up so if you want to you can stand there to feel more comfortable, be cautious either way because things happen. When we went it was windy so because i wanted to look straight down i decided to lay on my stomach and pull/crawl up to the edge and look over with someone hanging onto me...just incase. Again, none of this normally makes me nervous, i love heights and adrenaline but in reality, you need to be careful and have common sense while walking around. The Grand Canyon is something i would recommend to everyone, and see it from many different points/areas/cities...they all have something different to offer. I plan to check out the other end next year!

There are few sights in this world that leave one mesmerized. This is one of those sights that you remember for the rest of your life. The size and scope of this canyon along with the colors of the landscape make this a can't miss place. Even if you only stay a few minutes, the view from the North Rim and the 45 minute drive from Jacob Lake is worth it.

Ok, I get it.
There is so much beauty here that we can never express what we saw, but we can express how we saw it.
For many of us we do not have the time to walk the length of the south rim to the Hermit rest or the Look out Tower to the east.. As a train traveler we did not have the luxury of a car so what did we do?
We took Shuttles provided by the National park Service. These shuttles were driven by dedicated, professional men and women who are there to get us from point A to point B, safely, quickly and diplomatically.
We saw first hand how well the drivers deal with hundreds of visitors from other countries who had little or no knowledge of our language. We saw driver who had foreign visitors standing at the shuttle doors while trying to find out where they were or how to get to where they wanted to go. These drivers face these situations every day they are behind the wheel and deal with them diplomatically. Most will still still take time to point out points of interest or locations of the local wildlife.
Hats off to the shuttle drivers and thank you for you service.

You know, there just aren't enough superlatives to share about how superb Grand Canyon is. Getting to the rim and looking out at the Canyon just couldn't get better. And the Park Service continues to do a great job at managing the park even in these COVID times and with their inadequate budget (and with the increasing crowds).

Of particular interest are the Rim Trail, the Hermit's Point Shuttle and the eastern approach. There is simply to much to enumerate.

A suggestion is to do your homework before coming. That way you can be more strategic in going to the places that interest you. Crowds can be a significant issue.

This is truly a world class treasure. You seriously do not get much better than this for a natural attraction. The park is absolutely pristine, clean with no trash anywhere. Please remember to take plenty of water and it helps to be in good physical condition as distances can be further than they appear. Even if you drive to each parking lot you will still get a decent amount of walking in. In the summer it can get brutal hot as very little shade exists on trails around the rim. The park has a grocery store, restaurants, hotels and even a post office. Just beautiful!

Wonderful trails, lots of parking, and well maintained park. The only downside is the looong line to pay. You get to the front and they just hand you a map with a code to pay during your walk. The website is useless and the internet connection is non-existent. I'm guessing there's a lot of folks taking advantage of how hard it is to pay.

We traveled up from Flagstaff and the road, although somewhat narrow, is well maintained. The $30 per vehicle entrance is very reasonable as far as National Parks go. It's very well marked and easy to navigate once you get in. The canyon itself is absolutely breathtaking, the gift shop is impressive and the food is amazing. Worth the trip.

What is there to say? It is incredible. Crowds are heavy so here are a few tips that worked for us. We arrived just at sunset so we went to Mather Point which was very crowded. We went back to Mather Point for sunrise the next morning and much lighter crowds with a great view of the sunrise. We then took the shuttle to Bright Angel Lodge and got a grab and go breakfast at the Cafe/fountain (limited choices- b'fast burrito, packaged muffin, or danish), but it is the only place open before 8am. Then took Hermit Road shuttle and got ahead of the crowds. Walked some of the rim trail between stops and saw only a few people. By the time we got back to the start, the shuttles were full and long lines. Then we drove Desert View Drive at our own pace. No trouble parking at each overlook, lots of other people at each stop but not super crowded like at Mather Point.

Made a day trip with the family to the Grand Canyon National Park on Dec 26, 2019. Arrived at 3:00pm - two hours prior to sunset. Just wanted a glimpse and return back 4.5 hours to Las Vegas. Unfortunately, the park entrance gate was backed up for miles. We sat in line for two hours while the sun set on our dreams of seeing the Grand Canyon. Once we got to the rim it was dark. Couldn’t see 100 feet in any direction. Shame on the National Park Service for blocking our goal so they could charge $38 per car. Let the traffic in and charge on the way out of the park. Or let people pay online and bypass the line. My kids were devastated. Horrible horrible experience..
