The western side of Glacier National Park is the least visited area of the park. The road into Bowman Lake is a gravel 6 mile road that will stop many visitors from seeing the lake. At the end of the road is a campground, picnic area and starting point for hikers going into the back country. On one side of... More

A beautiful lake at the end of a gravel road and definitely worth the drive to visit and relax. The 11 mile (round trip) hike to the lookout was somewhat of a challenge for the non-teenagers, but awesome views at the top! Would definitely recommend the hike... bring plenty of water!

Glacier was very busy when we visited, so we followed some good advice and made the drive up to Bowman Lake. The road to the lake was like any one-lane gravel road, with a few more bumps, but was definitely, easily do-able in any vehicle. The lake itself is incredibly serene with the same massive views of the mountains minus... More

We stopped at Polebridge Mercantile and the asked what might be a cool but remote spot to check out. Bowman Lake did not disappoint! The six mile dirt road to the Lake was adventurous and it was so peaceful and remote it didn't feel real. Go!

the lake views transform through out the day. If you are camping in high Season (July 1 - Sept. 15) you need to be at the campgrounds by 11am ... it is always full. There is a downside of lots of people and kids. If you can bring a canoe and escape on the lake.

Reading the reviews of the road one would think that it was a treacherous drive full of large rocks and ruts. Even the ranger was doubtful about me driving my Prius since it sits low to the ground. But I drove all this way from Whitefish and I wasn't about to turn around. It's 8-9 miles from Polebridge and yes... More

As soon as we pulled up I was blown away by the beauty and serenity of Bowman Lake! A great photo op to be had here. The water is so clear you can see the river rock in all its glorious color. We were short on time so we didn't get to hike the selection of trails. Numa Ridge L.O... More

Bowman Lake is tucked away on the west side of Glacier and is well worth the drive. Secluded from the traffic and masses, this lake offers a beautiful beach, access to kayaking and canoeing and a campground. It's a rustic location with running water and pit toilets, but the lack of luxury makes up for the majesty of the mountains... More

We decided to take this drive on the 4th of July. After 7 miles on dirt roads the view opened up to an amazing sight. There were a lot more people there than we expected and there are tight spots in the road if you come upon someone else.

This lake is so worth the drive. It's in a less traveled part of the park. Just know that it's not on a paved road. It was such a peaceful place to spend the afternoon. There were only a handful of people there. If you want a quiet place to dream away the afternoon, this is it! Please make time... More
