This is a great loop trail for family and less experienced hikers. The length is perfect with well maintained park. The great thing about this location is that you could drive down there, then get on the trail right away.

This trail is short, mostly flat, easily accessible, has restrooms (well-maintained pit toilets), and has great opportunities to see small wildlife - maybe larger wildlife. And there are lots of wildflowers and shrubs to see and photograph. The trail is at the end of the...More

Enjoyed a walk along the river. We took some detours on paths that led up the hills/mountains around the river to check out the view from higher point. Watched dall sheep with binoculars from bridge at far end of loop trail.

This hike was the absolute highlight of our short time in the park. I chose it because I'd read about it when searching for kid-friendly hikes. We took hotel shuttle to the Wilderness Access Center. Picked up the kids' Junior Ranger Program booklets, then caught...More

Great place to walk through the river (briefly!). Beautiful, safe hike. Suitable for families with all ages. We loved this area--and saw Caribou just up the river from the parking lot.

Considering this was a short and easy hike, it was really a lot of fun. Took under an hour at a normal pace, which was good since we only had about 75 minutes between the last bus drop off and the last bus pick-up. Very...More

A lovely short loop trail at the end of the line of the free shuttle. Lots of prairie dogs if you listen and look closely. The running water makes it nice too. Facilities close by.

We did this as a cool down after hiking the savage ridge trail! It was a nice easy, relatively flat hike with pretty views! We drove and parked but the lot fills up pretty early! Lots of people took the bus there which comes around...More

You can drive approx. 15 miles to this site from the visitor center, but limited parking. Or take the free shuttle and save the hassle. Very easy walk. We saw several families of the willow ptarmigan, the Alaska State bird, in the bushes by the...More

Tons of wildflowers and the sound of the rushing river make this a wonderful short and relatively flat hike

You ought to check to see if the road is even open at that time of the year. I saw lots of barriers to close down sections of the road dependent on weather conditions. If the road is open and possibly icy I’d rent a 4x4 with... More
