Usually trails near visitor centers are short and safe. This one is not that long (about a mile) but goes deep into the surrounding woods where there are moose and bears. So it is a real experience but for those visiting Alaska be careful and...More

My wife and I are in our late 50's and in fairly good shape, but not athletes. We hiked the rock creek trail without any major issues even though we both had colds.

Walked back from the dog sled demo to the Visitor Centre on this trail. Another well marked trail, easy to walk although there were some up hill areas.

It's a nice and refreshing trail within the city. To my amazement, while in the trail, you don't feel like you are so close to the city. You can easily spend 4-5 hours around it. At some places, you feel isolated from everything but really...More

A good way to get to the dog show from the visitor center. Took us about an hour. We even got to see a moose!

This is a nice hike if you're headed to the kennels. Takes you through some thick forest and has some moderate elevation gain.

Since you spend most of your time in Denali on a bus, it was nice to get out on the trail. Great mushrooms, nice birch trees with moose rubs on them, a few nice views. Not spectacular and we didn't see Rock Creek, but a...More

Easy but nice trail. Uneven footing and narrow in some spots. We passed 10 people going the opposite way. We carried bear spray and wore bells mostly because we saw a few bears from the bus the day before. Seemed a small task to ensure...More

Definitely the best excursion whilst in the park. We had a 3.5 hour interpretive walk with Landon. He was very knowledgable and a great guide. He knew the area very well. We had an older person on the walk with us and he was able...More
