It's the Denali way, so I guess you gotta do it

We definitely prefer driving and being in control of our own schedule like you can do in Yellowstone, Yosemite, etc. But in Denali private vehicles can only go so far and compared... read more

We took this 7 hour bus ride and there were 8 of us and 4 of us were split up from our spouses which would have been fine but we were all forced to sit with strangers that took the window seats and were not willing to share the window scenery. Some window seats were taken by teenagers wanting to... More

We took an over 120 miles round trip bus tour on the Park Road where we saw grizzly bears, caribou, Dall sheep, Arctic ground squirrels, a Merlin Falcon and two golden eagles. The driver, Bryan Barrett, was simply an outstanding driver who was first safety conscious. Besides that important fact, he was extremely knowledgeable of the wildlife, geology, weather and... More

Something like $150 per adult (not the problem); the Park, or Park Road (not the problem); the driver, although I felt she rambled too much and was a distraction from the scenery (not the problem); the other, mostly adult guests (not the problem). The problem? Putting them all together on a cramped, fully occupied long school bus (that was designed... More

Peter was a great tour guide. He clearly loves what he is doing and was very informative about the park and provided interesting stories. The buses are old school buses that are not very comfortable for an 8 hour tour. Our bus had no mud flaps and on the drizzly day we toured the windows got blocked by mud. Peter... More

Our confirmation for the bus pickup clearly states pickup at 6:00 at the Denali Bluffs Hotel. We stood in the cold for 45 minutes before calling where we learned that the bus schedule had changed to 8:10. The representative told us that we should have called to confirm the schedule 2 days before arrival. This requirement is not clear in... More

We were in Denali as part of a Cruise/Land trip. The long bus trip into Denali was recommended by our guide. Not sure if they have done it themselves....It was long. Our guide on the trip was pleasant, but not talkative. On a 6+ hour tour you need a talkative guide. The weather did not help as it was rainy,... More

We definitely prefer driving and being in control of our own schedule like you can do in Yellowstone, Yosemite, etc. But in Denali private vehicles can only go so far and compared to how far this bus goes it's not very far. I suppose there are other options such as backcountry hiking and camping but that's for us. We saw... More

I did this trip solo as my husband was white water rafting and going on an ATV adventure. He loved his day but I still think my day was better! I made a reservation/booking 5 months in advance for this via internet before leaving home for Alaska. The concessioner is Doyon/Aramark. I wanted a certain day and time so felt... More

When I was researching the trip into the park, it started to become apparent that you didn't really have many options due to the Park Service regulations. It makes perfect sense and I don't disagree in principal. However if being with 50 other of your new best friends on a school bus for up to 8 hours appeals to you... More
