Our Driver Nan was amazing, she made us all feel safe on some scary gravel roads while giving us her insight into the park from the perspective of someone who experiences it on a daily basis.
Great lunch at the lodge and choice of three activities after lunch. Botanical hike, historical cabin hike, or panning for gold, which I did because I was unable to do this in Fairbanks.

My husband and I did the Heli-Hike tour. We weren't sure exactly what to expect but it is exactly as it sounds. We were whisked away on a lovely 30 min or so helicopter ride to the peak of a nearby mountain chain. We were dropped and and set off on an unforgettable 3 hour hike across the top of the mountain. Our guide, Jeff, was awesome. His enthusiasm and knowledge of the Alaskan tundra was a true delight. He showed us fossils, pointed out wildlife that is only seen on/in the tundra. We were even treated with a light snow shower! Of our 10 days in Alaska, this trip is truly the highlight!! I recommend this excursion for anyone who loves and appreciates the outdoors and wants to learn about the amazing ecosystems that are unique to Alaska!

Had a wonderful three hour hike with a private guide up the mountain next to the Grande Lodge. The guide was very informative and customized the pace to us. Amazing views and learned a lot about the local plants and ecosystem. Did not see a single other group - by design these are more off the main trails. Highly recommend!

We did an 8 hour guided tour into the park. We got to drive our own vehicle provided with Jeff guiding us in front with walk-in talkie. It was perfect. Rare opportunity to be in our own vehicle and driving, and not on a bus. Jeff was knowledgeable and helpful. His stories are great. We can’t wait to come back for a Helihike!!

DBG are an outstanding team. I would highly recommend them as guides into the back country. Kevin took myself and a cameraman out into the wild along the stampede trail to go visit Bus 142 as made famous by Christopher McCandless. Kevin and Rene looked after our safety and made the entire trip enjoyable. We felt safe and felt like we were on an adventure with friends. They were both very knowledgeable and they knew how to hike through these lands. If you're looking for off the beaten track definitely use DBG! Thanks Jeffrey, Kevin and Rene.

I went out with Kevin for a packrafting adventure and it was the best day of my whole trip! Its just like the brochures says... what I came to Alaska for.. the best of everything. A wonderful, not very strenuous hike, full of vistas and wildlife. I saw caribou, 2 adult grizzlies and 3 bear cubs. Kevin was an excellent guide full of information about the plants and geography. He was very professional and very personable. It was an amazing day and we hadn't even got in the water yet! The rafting was so cool, and even better then the hike. To have my autonomy, to float along and watch the scenery go by.. I didn't want it to end. It was really a wonderful experience.

We had an excellent walking tour with Jeff and his trainee. We had a great time with both of them. We walked on taiga and rocks. We tried a few types of berries. It was a playful and educational tour for me and my kids, ages 7.5 and 10. My son, tall for a 10 year-old, and I walked mostly with hiking sticks.

Our guide was Ibra and he was fantastic! So knowledgeable and friendly. We walked for over 3 hours and learned SO much. He gave us rubber shoes to wear over our shoes and walking sticks too. Because we stopped so often for Ibra to point out some flora or fauna, the walk was not strenuous at all. But it WAS on a true trail, not paved or a wide open path like so many "hikes" take you on these days. We saw many signs of wildlife, but no animals. However, we also did not see any other hikers too! Along with our whale watch, this was definitely a highlight of our time in Alaska.

We did two trips with Denali Backcountry Guides. Our first trip was a guided hike with Emily. She was extremely knowledgable about the area and one thing that really stuck with us is her teaching us about the different edible berries around Denali. Just a fun hike and a great way to get your toes wet and see the area. Also, our trip started out in the rain and she was able to provide water proof pants for a couple of the hikers(if you need extended sizes I would recommend having your own) and water proof boot covers so the people traveling the next day didn't trash their boots.

Our second trip was pack rafting with Kevin. This was hands down my favorite trip. What a fantastic way to see Alaska. I have white water rafted in different locations and I have never been on a river before where you couldn't see or hear other people or traffic. That's where the actual hiking into the river input comes in handy. We ran into maybe two other people on the river but for several hours there were only four of us on the river. It just gave you a moment to take in Alaska. Kevin was amazing because he knew when to talk and when to just let you absorb your surroundings. If I ever come back to Alaska I would definitely book this trip.

Our hike was easy but Kevin chooses between five creeks/rivers so another hike might take more energy.

We loved our time in Denali with Denali Backcountry Guided. We went pack rafting. A great time! Our guide, Kevin, took us into the wilderness- we didn't see any other people. The only sounds were nature sounds. After a 2 mile hike with packs containing our rafts and dry suits, we suited up, inflated the rafts and got on the river. We floated 8-9 miles in complete serenity. We got to see a momma moose and 2 babies try to cross the river behind us! Kevin was very personable and knowledgeable about all things Alaska- plants, animals, geology. That made our trip even that much better. Also, it was 50 and raining when we went! A true Alaska experience! Our 11 yo daughter is a trouper and they did pretty well trying to accommodate someone her size.
