We have traveled all over. We wanted our trip to Alaska to be something special. Our first day in Denali we visited Black Diamond to go ATV riding and enjoy a meal. To simply say we enjoyed it would be an understatement. They sent their shuttle to pick us up at our resort. Our shuttle driver showed up in a very nice and clean motor coach, picked us up and brought us to their business. These wonderful people greeted us and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The inside staff had us laughing and made us feel like we belonged their and they were actually glad we were there. We met our guide Andrew who got us ready for the UTV ride and honestly treated us like family. Andrew made this ride so much fun just with his personality. He took us on some amazing trails and showed us views a camera can’t and couldn’t do justice to. He told us facts we didn’t know about the area and State that we had no clue about. I’m guessing we were riding for about 3 hours but we had so much fun it passed way too fast. The time and energy he put in to our experience being unique was way above our expectations. We then went in to have our meal and met Igor. His amazing personality was such a welcoming and shining light. He repeatedly went out of his way bringing us food and checking on us to make sure anything we needed was perfect. You will not be hungry when Igor gets done with you.! This man gave a new level to customer service. The energy that these people put in to our visit was incredible. In a world that is lacking the personal touch and customer service these people and this business treated us like we were the only people on the planet. They honestly treated us like family. I told my wife that our next trip to Alaska we will be coming here again. We were returned to our resort feeling like we had a wonderful day.

We recently had the most incredible ATV excursion at Black Diamond ATV thanks to our exceptional guides, Evan and Wyatt. From the moment we arrived, their professionalism, knowledge, and friendliness were evident, creating a welcoming and exciting atmosphere. They skillfully guided us through breathtaking trails, sharing fascinating insights about the area's flora, fauna, and history. The attention to detail and level of care provided by Black Diamond ATV, along with the top-notch equipment and accommodating staff, made the entire experience seamless and unforgettable. If you're seeking an adrenaline-filled journey through Alaska's rugged wilderness, I highly recommend booking a tour with Black Diamond ATV and requesting Evan and Wyatt as your guides. You won't be disappointed!

Our ATV guide was very experienced (and I successfully drove the ATV for the first time with no issues). The views are spectacular and the air is refreshing. While I know there is a lot of wildlife, all I really saw was a moose butt :). At a river bed, our guide shared his information on local rocks and pointed out a section of the mountain wall that is doomed to collapse.

Do not be frightened to jump into this adventure as a first time independent driver. Of course, my husband was right behind me and he's always there to catch me or possibly cash in on life insurance!

Side notes - when zooming through a puddle, lift your feet or have coins to later use a laundromat. Also, ask the bus driver for great stories.

We arrived and before we were able to check in we were asked if we were a part of the tour by a fresh faced teenager. He didn't identify himself as an employee or tour guide, and it wasn't apparent by his clothing so we assumed he was another participant. After we checked in we headed to the large shed where all of the atvs are kept for a safety briefing. The young man that was leading the safety briefing stood next to a large tv that we assumed would show a safety video, but instead he just went down a board of safety bullet points. (which was fine, but for some reason because of the TV we assumed there was a video portion) We got on the Atvs and got rolling and began to enjoy the scenery. It was a beautiful ride with a couple different stops, and we saw a moose bedded down not more than 20 feet from the trail! The scenery and atv riding was great, we enjoyed the fresh air and hiatus from rain during the ride. There were a few things that marred this beautiful trip, and I think with some training effort for the tour guides they can easily be fixed. One time we went down the wrong trail and everyone had to turn around, ( which was difficult for some of the group who wasn't used to riding atvs, so we had to wait as the guide went down the line and turned around all of the atvs) another we went to an area where another tour guide from the same company had brought their group, and our guides seemed to be a bit miffed about it. Several times they mentioned that they were trying to kill some time, and it didn't seem like the tour had been planned out well to fill the amount of time we had paid for. The lead guide let the trainee (the teenager that we meet before check in) try to do one of the narrations of the stops and he struggled in a few spots, but the lead guide was demeaning and derisive towards him in front of the group and made us all very uncomfortable. At one point we lost half of our group and one of the guides had to go back to find them. All of the tour guides were very young, which doesn't matter to me as long as they are well trained. All in all it was a fun experience that I would have rated much higher if the tour guides would have had a little more training.

I'm not sure how this isn't the top rated ATV tour group, as they are amazing! We were a party of four, for a 3.5 hour individual rider ATV guided tour, and 3 of us had dinner as well. Our guide, Igor, made it the BEST experience! Super knowledgeable about the area and it's history. We would stop periodically for beautiful views, stories about the area, animals, and plant life (and more importantly to turn off the ATVs long enough to listen to the quietness of Alaska...and to rest our thumbs from the throttle, lol). We felt safe but had a great time riding all the bumpy trails. This would be great for any age range or skill level. DEFINITELY a must do!! Dinner was amazing: Fettuccine with Alaskan Shrimp, Chicken Gnocchi, and French Dip. We also had mozzarella sticks that were great (note: appetizers don't come with the package, but they were good!).

I've had many, many wonderful travel experiences in my long life but this ATV excursion on the Denali extension of an Alaska cruise rocketed to the top of my favorites. Totally exhilarating and an adrenalin rush that I was happily not prepared for. Our guide, aided by Denali Chalet's Brooke and Emily and Black Diamond's Skylar and Kenisha literally turned lemons to lemonade. We missed the tour group meet up departure and feared the event was a bust. The team went into overdrive and we ended up in the hospitable hands of Igor, Slovakia's gift to Denalu tourism and Alaskan hospitality. We had an extensive safety lesson, we're carefully fitted with helmets and set off for an adventure akin to Mr. Toad's wild ride. Neither of us had ever ridden an ATV nor ever expected to. It was a thrill. My partner demonstrated instant mad driving skills as Igor in the lead vehicle navigated mud, rough terrain and water-filled ditches to give us the thrill of a lifetime. We began in daylight with spectacular views, paused and caught our breath for a scrumptious family style BBQ for just the three of us. It was a very special meal not in the least overshadowed by our delicious dining on the cruise ship. After dinner, back on the ATV for an extended nighttime tour lit only by our headlights. Even if an ATV ride has never been on your must do list, GO! If you're very lucky, Igor will be your guide and you'll have your BEST DAY EVER!

My wife and I did the Black Diamond Treasure Hunt & Dining ATV Tour on Wednesday 28 June 2023 at 7:45 PM in Healy, Alaska near Denali National Park. Our Guide was Danny who did an extremely exceptional job at showing us the Denali landscape while riding for fun in an ATV for 3 1/2 hours. Though this is his first year he acted like a seasoned pro with his knowledge of the trails, the scenery and how to handle the ATV. He included a lot of colorful stories of his past as well as the surrounding land covered on the tour. The way he communicated made us feel right at home even though Alaska is totally out of our safety zone being from the Midwest city of Cincinnati. At dinner time he brought us a giant family style meal of ribs, chicken and salmon. Everything tasted great. He took us to the secret "treasure" which was fun itself and we got some items for our grandkids there. We even got to ride through a creek and collect stones to take home. Since I am a rock collector this was special because in the actual Denali Park you can't take anything home. This was the best excursion we had on the whole 11 day tour from Holland America. Thanks loads to Black Diamond and especially Danny.

For the adults, the best part was two things. First, the enjoyment of the kids on this excursion. Our kids (9 and 12) loved it. Second were the views. Our second stop was the top of a hill that had breathtaking 360 degree views of the mountains on one side and valleys and lake below. It was the most amazing view.

For the kids, it was the ride. They loved the rough and tumble ride. They really enjoyed stopping at dry creek and getting to look for rocks.

Gavin was our driver; he was awesome. Knowledgeable of the area and great with the kids. A nice feature of this excursion is having an experienced driver; I recommend asking for Gavin. Having him drive, gave me time to look at all the scenery, take pictures and video and enjoy the ride.

Mac was a terrible guide. He was patient and extremely knowledgeable. Perfect personality and disposition for the tour. It was so much fun, learned a lot about Denali and we even saw a moose and her calf. Dominic from Jamaica came around a few times and with his big personality was a laugh. The real hoot and showman of the night was Larry the bus driver who entertained the entire way to and from the venue.
I would totally recommend the ATV tour even if you need to squeeze in the 7:45 PM tour as we did. Due to the extended light and the amount of fun and excitement, you’ll not even realize how late it is.

Our guide was Antoine Roy, he was absolutely fantastic I cannot say enough positive things. We had a private side by side tour and he really went out of his way to make sure that we had an incredible time. He was very knowledgeable and if I recall correctly has a geology degree. He took us to a place where we were able to find lots of special stones to bring back to our granddaughters, and told lots of entertaining stories and facts along the way. Also the meal that was provided was phenomenal, we felt guilty having eaten breakfast beforehand not realizing there was so much delicious food (and wine). This was by far the best excursion of our Alaskan cruise which was both the land and the sea, and this was all thanks to Antoine.
