Being naive, I planned to drive our car all the way through the park, gawking at majestic scenery and seeing wildlife at the roadside. But the Park Road has a checkpoint/barricade just past mile 14. So your only options to get past the ranger checkpoint...More

If you just stay close to the park entrance, you may wonder what's the big deal about Denali. But going in to the park -- particularly when the Mountain is out -- takes you into one of the most spectacular places in the world. Yes,...More

The road is very long and the scenery is the most amazing part. There is wildlife in the park and you may be lucky enough to view it although it is mostly a fair distance from the road. Bring your binoculars!

We took a day tour of Denali Nat'l Park. We say brown bears, moose, & caribou. I loved the contrast in colors experienced during the trip. While the skies were grey and overcast, which prevented us from seeing Denali, we saw brilliant browns, greens, &...More

Although you can only drive yourself part of the way into the park, there's no pressure on you with other traffic so you can pull over where safe and take all of the time in the world to get the binoculars out and spot the...More

Yes. It'll be about 4 hours one way but there are rest stops during the way. Pack more food than you think and bring water.
