The lake itself is absolutely beautiful, especially when it is sunny and there is no breeze so it looks like glass. But the mosquitoes were so bad in June when we went that we could barely stand still long enough to take a picture. It was our own fault though. We had all the gear, the best bug repellant for... I have been to many lakes. I thought lake Tahoe is way prettier than this. I wish I have bought tickets to other area. Yah, mosquitoes are plenty. The 11 hours bus ride as fun and interesting to see wildlife. We bought the regular shuttle bus NOT the tour bus. The first 4 hours to the visitor center was nice... More

Visited this spot twice during my visit. First time, Denali was exposed and we could see the summit. Second visit, Wonder Lake was like a mirror and I got good reflection photos. Best of all on the second day, a HUGE bull moose was dining in the lake. We watched him for about an hour. Great photos

We did not stay there, but spent about two hours walking the hills above the lake. Very nice trails and views.

Wonder Lake is reached by a 90 mile , 8 hour bus ride. You may or may not see Denali. I would not do the ride in a day as you may feel exhausted by the time you return. Stay overnight if you can, There are lots of mosquitoes around wonder lake- lots. People do camp there. The lake reflects... More

Wonder Lake is almost to the end of the park road, and is absolutely gorgeous in peak summer season. In August, blueberries are explosive and you could spend hours collecting them and gorging on the sweet fruit. Just a warning for June and July, however: MOSQUITOS ABOUND! Make sure to have tons of bug spray and even though you might... More

We stayed 3 nights at Kantishna Roadhouse. Went by Wonder Lake traveling both to and from while on their bus. I also rode up there on mountain bike 2 days in a row... WOW! a most inspiring sight. Spoke with a NPS ranger - told her she must have the best job in the whole world, living and working at... More

We rode the Park Bus to Wonder Lake . . even though it is a several hour bus ride, there are several stops with time to get off the bus, take photos and explore a bit. If you ask, your bus driver, while not a tour guide, will give brief narration of key sights along the way. We seen several... More
